It's a bit of a long story so I'll cut it down but a month ago DD decided to try ASDA for a grocery delivery instead of Tesco.

On the Friday evening she submitted the order which was accepted but the next morning (Sat) she received an e-mail saying there were 'technical difficulties' and her order had been cancelled.

Feeling miffed she immediately set off to Tesco for the weekend shop because she was expecting visitors and didn't have much time to spare. When she got home, however, she checked her bank account and assumed from the 'money available' calculation that ASDA had actually taken the money even though the order had been cancelled. An angry phone call from her to ASDA resulted in them promising to credit the amount on the next banking day. (Monday)

On the Sunday we were enjoying a pre-lunch G&T when there was a knock on our door - not DD's who lives next door and there stood an ASDA delivery man with DD's original order. We're glad this happened because it meant we were witnesses to the fact she sent the order back and took the delivery driver's details.

On the Monday, ASDA took another £75 from her account in addition to the original amount stating that she had accepted the order which we know she didn't!

Sorry if this is long winded....Her bank then stepped in, refunded both amounts and said they would deal with ASDA! Problem solved.....we thought.

Since then, every Friday morning, ASDA has helped themselves to £75 from her bank account. DD obviously complains and the bank refunds it.
There were also some bizarre daily amounts of £2 or £3 being taken out which nobody seems to be able to account for.

DD then asked her bank for a new card hoping this would solve the problem because the security number on the back would be different.....It didn't solve anything.

This morning. ASDA took another £75 from her account. The bank has now cancelled her account and are in the process of setting her up with a new one and the case is now being dealt with by the police fraud squad.

The theory is that somebody has hacked into her account because ASDA are insisting they are not to blame. She now has to contact anyone who may hold her bank details because apparently they can also be hacked via her account.

It's been a nightmare for her. I've always trusted online shopping but it makes you wonder. hmm

What a nightmare! and a salutary warning. Good job you were both on the ball.
