Stupidly shoplifted and got caught

(93 Posts)

Like the subject says I was caught shoplifting this morning and I am now so ashamed, no excuse as I shouldnt have done it under any circumstances.

Worried now I could end up losing my job if my employers find out.

Wondered if anyone has words of advice or even knows someone who has been in this situation?

Does anybody remember the poster who said the police had been round to her house and accused her of shoplifting?
Was that what you meant jalima and phoenix?

If it’s so obvious, why are so many of you continuing to do it then?

MawBroon Fri 19-Jan-18 23:21:16

Thank you for stating the obvious maryeliza grin

‘If you suspect someone of being a troll, please don't accuse them publicly on the discussion thread (if you're wrong, you could cause untold hurt; if you're right, you'll merely be giving them just the kind of attention they're after).
Instead, please report your suspicions to us (either by reporting a post of theirs or by mailing us at [email protected]) and we'll check them out.
Please bear in mind that we'd rather err on the side of being taken in than of accusing a genuine poster who's in need of support of being a troll’

From the guidelines. Just saying

Did you post under a different username last time?

Jalima1108 Fri 19-Jan-18 23:11:59

Yes I admitted in a previous post this is the second time I have and only time I was caught

I thought I had read something similar before - cheryl you must have had some good advice last time so WHY?
I did think you'd got caught last time as well.

OldMeg Fri 19-Jan-18 22:43:35

The clue is in the title....she’d have us believe she’s upset because she got caught hmm

phoenix Fri 19-Jan-18 22:38:15

Hmm, has this person posted before, either on another thread of their own, or contributed to other threads?

Bathsheba Fri 19-Jan-18 22:37:34

That was in response to MissA's post.

Bathsheba Fri 19-Jan-18 22:36:14

But it IS footwear....

BlueBelle Fri 19-Jan-18 22:35:21

How old are you chery ?

MissAdventure Fri 19-Jan-18 22:20:03

I would think its genuine. Its nothing like the style of the footwear person.

Eglantine21 Fri 19-Jan-18 22:18:37

Oh thank god. I thought I had to believe.......

MawBroon Fri 19-Jan-18 22:12:53

Well it passed the time......

tanith Fri 19-Jan-18 22:04:36

Is this a new 'plimsolls' story?

petra Fri 19-Jan-18 22:00:36

Grannyben Fri 19-Jan-18 21:55:20

Neither am i

cheryl1967 Fri 19-Jan-18 21:55:14

Ok well if you are not convinced that is totally fine.

I dont need to waste to waste my time posting any longer if thats the case, no reason why anyone would make something like that up.

Auntieflo Fri 19-Jan-18 21:50:40

This OP is disclosing an awful lot of information. I am not convinced.

Grannyknot Fri 19-Jan-18 21:45:05

hmm ...

cheryl1967 Fri 19-Jan-18 21:37:25

Maybe tomorrow reality will strike even more, didnt get back from the police station to after 6, havent even changed out of the clothes I had on to work last night or was arrested in.

In another way it has struck as definetly dont want to end up in a freezing police cell again no matter how long for.

Eglantine21 Fri 19-Jan-18 21:30:26

You're very unlikely to go to jail unless you don't turn up for the hearing or do something else.

A bit worried that you say "it might be a good idea to get legal advice". I'm not sure reality has struck.

cheryl1967 Fri 19-Jan-18 21:24:50

I didnt think it was necessary, the first time it was a pair of underwear and I know I will need to pay the price and worst case scenario go to jail for a bit, spending time in a cell was horrible enough and I intend not to do the same again.

Grannyben Fri 19-Jan-18 21:20:59

But you did contemplate it and on more than one occasion. I dare say you would have continued if you hadn't been caught. What did you take the first time? Why did you think it necessary to steal boots worth such a lot of money

MawBroon Fri 19-Jan-18 21:15:57

Nobody is saying that, but £250 boots? Being hard up is not going to be much of a defence when we are talking about a luxury article. sad
