Carrying Cash or just Bank card

We hardly ever have cash. When the grandchildren come we will get cash out then and that's about it.

I seriously can’t remember the last time I used cash.
I use my pin so rarely I have to think about that.

I usually don’t carry cash I keep £20 at home for the window cleaner and any change goes in the car for the odd parking that doesn’t accept cards. Just shove my debit card in my pocket or I pay with my phone.

I like a few pounds in coins. Handy for putting in a charity box or for a tip after paying by card at the hair salon, bar or restaurant. I dare say tipping is becoming obsolete nowadays now people just pay by card.

Very rarely use cash nowadays, in fact the money I have in my purse must have cobwebs ?

For over a year, I've just carried my debit card, with sometimes a note in the back.

The old 20’s are still acceptable in shops. Haven’t been recalled yet.

Have hardly used cash since Feb last year, and any time I've been out I've used my bank card, although I do carry a small amount of cash in a change purse. I've just got used to keeping a couple of bank cards in my phone case. And my window cleaner and newsagent both accept BACS transfers, so really no need to have cash these days.

I use cash to pay the cleaner and for taxis when, very infrequently, I go out.
Everything else is by card.

On the subject of cash I got a lot of cash from the post office at the start of the pandemic and I’ve realised many of the £20 notes are old ones which need to be replaced. Does anyone know if shops are still accepting the old ones? It’s only when I gave one to DH to pay for something that I realised I had so many.

I always have some cash on me., and think that allowing ourselves to become totally reliant on card payments will come back to bite us sooner or later.

It's not a question of safety, it's just I never use cash. It's just another job to go to the cash machine when I have the means to pay in my hand.
