Nationwide have very helpful staff in branches and I'm thinking of opening a savings account with them soon.

Thanks Croatial. She's currently with Halifax who have told us that they don't do in person appointments. She also has an account with RBS. I'll have a look at Lloyds :-)

RBS do "personal appointments" at a convenient local branch and we've found it a pleasant and efficient way to deal with them.

Halifax pay considerably less, 3.7% compared to the 5.03% being offered by Trading212 and Chip but a Halifax ISA can be opened and managed in branch or by phone. Its website says so:

MSE's best cash ISAs.

Who does she currently bank with? I have for example gone into a Lloyds branch and opened an ISA. I believe you can do this in person at most banks. The rate wasn't too bad either, (admittedly not as good as you could probably find online )it was towards the end of last year but was 4%

My mother (90) has a sum of money which should really be invested in a savings account / ISA. She is happy to move this from her current current account but is absolutely adamant that she will not use online banking. She does all her bank transactions by phone which always involves one of us being with her as she is quite hard of hearing. All the accounts which I've found offer substantially less interest if they are not online. Just wondered if anyone else has found a non-online account paying a reasonable interest rate?
