My niece who lives in Italy is going through a difficult divorce and is short of cash. I said I would give her £700 that I have in my Santander account to tide her over for the next week or so.
I went to our Banking Hub and waited for 45 minutes to see the Santander member of staff. Fair enough the teller was busy.
I then was grilled, as I should be, about why I was sending money to Italy. I answered every question honestly and correctly, every hoop I jumped through gave another hoop ! I had to extend the time on my car park ticket as the time moved on. Because I don’t have the Santander App on my phone caused problems. They recorded my voice, fair enough.
Then when my extended car park ticket was nearing the end they said I would have to wait another 10 minutes or longer. I was distraught. I told them I would close my account and left them in tears.
I went to Nationwide where I have accounts they were brilliant, realised how upset I was and I have agreed to return when I feel better and they will sort it all for me.
I do realise how important it is to make sure this is not fraud but I gave them all the right info and my niece still does not have the money.
Onward and upward hopefully.
Did anyone else feel completely lost as an executor?
