Maniac - I know the Watford area very well and the various schools you mentioned. My daughter lives in St. Albans which is also a lovely area.

akuaku, there are several of us in Cheshire. I'm in NE Cheshire but there are others further south and in the Chester area too. We have meet-ups every so often and I will put you on the list so that I can contact you by pm when one is being planned.

I am in mid-Cheshire. Is there anyone else?!

Greatnan Thu 21-Feb-13 20:28:32

Good job we are all different - I lived and worked in central London for eight years and hated it - the noise, traffic, crowds, buildings......as soon as I retired I moved to remote mountain village in France.

I can almost see you across the Bristol Channel, but alas to far. I'm in Portishead.

Londoner and proud of it.

Best city in the country in my view. That saying "when you're tired of London you're tired of life" couldn't be truer.

The shard, O2, gherkin, St Pauls, Houses of Parliment, Buck House, museums for free, huge parks, shows galore, dinning ditto, street markets, the city, the West End.

Good bits, bad bits it's all there.

Greatnan Thu 21-Feb-13 05:43:10

I am in Wakefield, New Zealand for the next six weeks, when I will be returning to my home in the French Alps.

Just found GN site and am testing the waters.
Not sure if you are still participating, but was really surprised to see where you have previously lived.
We lived in south Harrow and know Wealdstone, Bushey, Watford, Berko, etc. very well. Daughter lives in St. Albans and we now live in Northamptonshire!!

RINKY et al .I so agree about the beauties of Northumberland .We lived in Morpeth .First DD born there in 1959.
Last time I visited Bamburgh they were filming 'Beckett' Richard Burton and Liz Taylor were in the vicinity! I believe it was portrayed as the French coastline.
