How many years have you and yours been married, or together, whichever applies to you? Today is our 48th wedding anniversary, heaven only knows how we`re still together, you don`t get that long for murder, and I`ve come pretty close to committing that at times!

My sister in law and I were discussing her Golden Wedding party and how old our parents in law seemed at theirs compared with (hopefully) how we have aged - do you agree?

Celebrated 41 years of marriage at the start of this month and will have been together 46 years on 5 November : 15 & 17 when we met. Have had our downs as well as the ups but on balance we decided we were better together than apart! We still have lots of fun (& occasional grumpiness) but life is good for us and are glad we chose to stick together and make love work!

gracesmum, that poem of Rabbie's really does say it all. My Other 'arf and I have been together for just over 42 years now. I still remember how he attracted me - he stood and smiled and tipped his head to the one side. He wore a charcoal grey round-necked jumper with a white shirt under, and the collar was inside it - not over the top of the jumper. I don't know how he saw me or what he saw, but I still remember how I felt then........quite determined, actually....wink

42 - (but of course I was a child bride - barely legal hmm) I think that once you get past certain points, unless something dramatic happens it becomes easier to poddle along together, don't you?
I think oor Rabbie got it right in this lovely, tender poem:

John Anderson, my jo, John,
When we were first acquent;
Your locks were like the raven,
Your bonie brow was brent;
But now your brow is beld, John,
Your locks are like the snaw;
But blessings on your frosty pow,
John Anderson, my jo.

John Anderson, my jo, John,
We clamb the hill thegither;
And mony a cantie day, John,
We've had wi' ane anither:
Now we maun totter down, John,
And hand in hand we'll go,
And sleep thegither at the foot,
John Anderson, my jo.

Celebrating our 41st in December! Finding it strange now that he's retired and is around all the time as a lot of our life has been spent apart. He in London, me in Scotland before we got married, then him jetting off on business trips all over the world and me left behind with 2 children and a dog and the nearest family 250 miles away! But we're still together and getting along just fine...as long as we can have the odd break from each other every now and then!
Congrats to all those celebrating at the moment.

38 this year and the family are already suggesting we all spend a holiday together in a large villa/gite somewhere like France for our 40th! guess who will be paying?... However we love the idea as we had a successful week in Tuscany three years ago.

Best time to have your babies Ariadne when you are young, I did too. If my DGC wait as long as my DS to have a family he is going to be 70 when he gets to be a grandfather.

46 years on Sunday! And we've know each other for about 50. Youngest sun is celebrating his 40th birthday on Sunday, so all my children (3 + great DiLs and SiL) and grandchildren (4) will be there. How lucky am I? We started very young, with a baby, and people said it would never last.....

We did thanks, our planned picnic was spent in our summer house watching the "Kings Speech". Still had our fresh crab & bottle of champagne. Didn't fancy this film, but knew Mrs. P would like it, it was so bad it moved me to tears. LOL.
We had breakfast at "Jimmy's Farm" excellent!, followed by a visit to a local walled garden, we love walled gardens.
