How many years have you and yours been married, or together, whichever applies to you? Today is our 48th wedding anniversary, heaven only knows how we`re still together, you don`t get that long for murder, and I`ve come pretty close to committing that at times!

Well numberplease you have made me laugh out loud.grin My first lasted 34 years and then he left for someone else. It had it's ok moments and we had three fabulous children. We got married at twenty, and I was pregnant and too young to realise that it was not alright for him to threaten violence at regular intervals. I only wish I had the courage to have left him earlier, but my parents split up when I was very young, and I didn't want that to happen, I was always sure it was up to me to make it better. I got married to my DH 4years ago and every day is a joy. My only sadness is that it is unlikely to be as long as the other however I thank my lucky stars. So well done for you 48years!wine

Thank you everyone, but I`m not sure how I got this into the "Where are you?"section! Must be the old age thing lol! So far I`ve spent the day having my hair coloured ready for son`s wedding on Saturday, then it`s washing, hubby`s spending the day on his PS3 upstairs, isn`t life romantic?

We will have been married 48 years in two weeks time. We had a little celebration a couple of years ago on the 50th anniversary of when we first met, in case we are not able to celebrate out Golden Wedding.

Many congratulations, numberplease wine. We'll have been married 41 years this coming Christmas - some friends said it would never last but here we are! For the past 25 years we've worked together in our company - not easy! But we have separate interests as well.

numberplease Wed 13-Jul-11 21:21:42

Again, thank you everyone. Oh my, there are quite a few long marriages amongst our little gang, aren`t there? Congratulations to all. Riclorian, was going to say that we`ve got 4 years to go to catch up with you, but you`ll be on 56 years by then, won`t you, God willing, as my mother-in-law used to say.

How wonderful congratulation numberplease and all the other 40+ and 30+. We have been married for 33 years in January and both been married before. I tell everyone I am not his first choice and he declines to comment. We have three children between us but sadly none of our own together but he did give me a golden retreiver once and a toad in a jar (which we liberated in the woods).7 grandchildren. I tell him everyday how lucky he is and he buys me badges for my cooking apron which say things like I am a Wonderful Wife so thats Ok thensmile

glammanana Thu 14-Jul-11 10:35:16

Congratulations and good wishes numberplease What an impressive and heartening list of long-lived marriages with, as you say, no time off for bad behaviour. I'm on my second marriage and have only achieved 13 years – nearly as long as my first one. As our wedding day was 1 April, it's amazing it's lasted that long!wink

sylvia2036 Thu 14-Jul-11 18:03:00

Congratulations numberplease - OH and I met on a blind date, he moved in with me after one week (that was back in 1977), we married in 1978 and I still love him to bits although there are times when I could see him far enough!

jangly Thu 14-Jul-11 18:26:06

greenmossgiel Thu 14-Jul-11 20:02:23

numberplease Thu 14-Jul-11 20:54:24

Ah, greenmossgiel, I`ll bet there`s not as many warts as you`re trying to make out!

greenmossgiel Thu 14-Jul-11 21:15:15

There are - you should see them - great hairy things! grin

numberplease Thu 14-Jul-11 22:30:10
