Feeling very envious that Scottish Grannies have got themselves organised.
Are there any grannies within striking distance of a Midlands centre who would like to do the same? I am in Milton Keynes but trains to Brum are frequent and fast. Any takers?

Watch out world! The Gran's are on the march!
March, march, swing ye along!grin

Annoyingly the Pre Raphaelite exhibition that's on in London probably means that any Pre Raphaelite paintings that would have been in Brum won't be there. But that's not the end of the world, and a good excuse to go to London in the Autumn! Note to self; must sort out train times.

Now that the wedding is out of the way and the granny marathon - apart from a sleepover at the end of the month when DD and SIL go to a wedding in Oxford, what am I looking forward to now??
MIDLANDS MEET UP in Birmingham!

Ooh goody, I'm looking forward to it......the tearooms won't know what's hit them grin

AlisonMA Wed 29-Aug-12 10:52:50

Yummy all correct! Wear whatever you like, Jeni is going to put us all to shame anyway. smile

Yummygran Wed 29-Aug-12 10:40:44

This all sounds very exciting, I have been away from my computer for some time so am having to catch up on all this! So we are wearing purple/green/white, is that right? Will ribbons be acceptable, if we haven't got anything purple to wear? It is still at the Edwardian tearooms at the Birmingham Art Gallery isn't it? 12.30 for 1pm.....just need to check smile

jeni D'ya think my purple feather boa will match your fascinator?

jeni Tue 28-Aug-12 11:24:58

grin

AlisonMA Tue 28-Aug-12 10:29:35

grrrrany you will look very fetching in your balaclava with 3 colours of ribbons flying off in all directions. Better not make them too long or they will get in your lunch!

grrrranny Tue 28-Aug-12 10:12:43

Alison I have bought some ribbon in the colours but haven't worked out what to do with them yet. After seeing Glasgow crew, my balaclava will play havoc with my fine (thin) hair so I would have to decide whether to keep it on for group photos or not. Now thinking it should be a bit like a terrorist one with just holes for eyes as I hate seeing myself in photos - they shatter my delusions.

AlisonMA Tue 28-Aug-12 10:07:32

Jeni I think I am going to look very drab next to you! grin Should I buy some ribbons in green, purple and white and attach those somewhere?

jeni Tue 28-Aug-12 10:05:29

It's a fascinator actually in purple!

AlisonMA Tue 28-Aug-12 09:31:24

Go for it Old we need to make an impact and shake Brum up. Of course headwear is optional and those of us who are vertically challenged should be let off.

Oldgreymare Tue 28-Aug-12 09:20:57

OOOOOH! I've got a fascinator with a green feather bought in a -second hand- gently worn shop in Tetbury, my friends and I call it 'Camilla's cast-off'. grin
At this rate I shall look even more like Lilo Lil!

JessM Tue 28-Aug-12 06:21:40

hats definitely optional. If you want to wear a hat indoors jeni we look forward to admiring it.

jeni Mon 27-Aug-12 16:58:11

Reminds me of that film! The one where the men did the strip tease? My cleaner said that when she watched it, she ran round the tv set at the end but still couldn't see anything!

Bags Mon 27-Aug-12 16:22:28

I wore it outside, marelli! I usually do wear a hat outdoors. Don't like cold ears, or wisps of flyaway hair blowing in my face all the time. Walking in Glasgow yesterday, I wished I'd worn gloves too, at least in the morning. Took my coat off on the walk back to the station, but kept my hat on.

AlisonMA Mon 27-Aug-12 16:11:59

I look like a table lamp when I wear a hat! grin

Marelli Mon 27-Aug-12 16:09:31

Bags carried hers yesterday! wink

numberplease Mon 27-Aug-12 16:06:04

We don`t have to have head gear, do we?shock shock Me and hats juust don`t go together!grin

AlisonMA Mon 27-Aug-12 15:56:15

I hope you have the specs too Jeni

jeni Mon 27-Aug-12 15:11:06

You wait till you see my headgear ladies! Dame Edna eat your heart out!

Maniac Mon 27-Aug-12 15:05:29

I wasn't planning to book my ticket until we return from our cruise. However I've looked up train times from Nailsea. Most convenient train would be 9.29a.m. to connect with 10.00a.m. train from Temple Meads
Return trains from Brum seem to be every 30 mins.I don't have any strong feelings about return times.

JessM Mon 27-Aug-12 08:55:56

Coral would certainly count. Specially a purple variety.

Oldgreymare Mon 27-Aug-12 08:18:16

Jess would coral count, then I could just lay there looking beautiful (huh), I can't swim, and maybe Greatnan would come snorkelling past.
Defo a butterfly for much the same reasons as yours.
jeni I think I mentioned before that I'm hoping to be on the 9.30 from Temple Meads, provided local train gets there in time.
numberplease any shade of purple would do I'm sure after all there are 50 shades of grey.... and NO I haven't read it! blush
