Feeling very envious that Scottish Grannies have got themselves organised.
Are there any grannies within striking distance of a Midlands centre who would like to do the same? I am in Milton Keynes but trains to Brum are frequent and fast. Any takers?

jeni Sun 26-Aug-12 22:44:28

I'm me!

There will be so many of us, I`ll have trouble remembering who`s on my photos! Maybe I should put the camera on video mode, then you can all say who you are?

annodomini Sun 26-Aug-12 22:40:55

I do hope that someone takes a good colour photograph of the Midlands meeting - by the sound of your outfits, it should be worth recording. wink

jeni Sun 26-Aug-12 22:38:52

I don't know until I find what tine maniac and barrows train is. I'll try and get the same train. I think theyre getting it from Yatton but I'll pick it up at Bristol temple meads!

Will a sort of auberginey/burgundyish colour do instead of purple?

numberplease Sun 26-Aug-12 22:27:52

What tme do you arrive Jeni? I`ll be getting a taxi from the station.

jeni Sun 26-Aug-12 22:11:14

Oooh! Am I really looking forward to this!
I've my outfit sorted!
All I've got to do is sort my train times and arrange disabled assistance. (ramps etc for either my buggy, or to get ME on and off board!
I'm very happy to pay for any taxis in Brum, if anybody wishes to join me, as I'd be using one anyway!
grin

This afternoon I had the bright idea of coming on a National Express coach, and saving myself a fortune in fares, till I looked into it, and found that it wouldn`t get me there till after 8pm! It takes 8 and a half hours! I haven`t booked the train tickets yet, will do tomorrow, but the train I`ll be getting arrives at New Street at 11.54am. I`m still working on the purple, green and white, it`s a problem, cos I don`t generally wear purple, but I`ll sort something out.

jeni Sun 26-Aug-12 20:19:17

What time trains have you all booked? That's to and from Bristol?

Nanadogsbody Sun 26-Aug-12 16:58:38

Oh dear Ella you have me to rights, had forgotten my photo! . Have to confess that bonkers is a compliment in my world. Really looking forward to meeting you all. wink

Ella46 Sun 26-Aug-12 16:48:48

Nanadog and you're not???

I've just looked at your photo!!! grin wink

Nanadogsbody Sun 26-Aug-12 12:44:12

Ok......................................

AlisonMA Sun 26-Aug-12 12:31:04

Nanadogsbody I think you will find that is a prerequisite! smile

jeni Sun 26-Aug-12 12:02:52

Moi? I'd be what I am! A damsel (but not in distress)
Actually more likely a scorpion.

Nanadogsbody Sun 26-Aug-12 11:39:31

I'm questioning the wisdom of coming to this Midland meet up.....you're all clearly bonkers! cupcake

I am tempted by a butterfly too, because i have flitted about instead of sticking to one career, and also, v fond of flowers. And clothes. And can give an illusion of being flighty at times.
Sea creature, octopus maybe - not that good at swimming, but the multiple arms cover multiple interests and very visual .

AlisonMA Sun 26-Aug-12 10:07:47

grrrranny 'interesting' is subjective. I can be 'interesting' for hours and hours on the subject of ballet and dance but for others I would be boring for Britain! I promise you that if anyone starts on their operations I shall chime in with mine and then you will all want to go home! grin

If I had to be a sea creature I would be one of those lovely yellow fishes that swim in the warmest of waters.

grrrranny Sun 26-Aug-12 09:40:56

I now think that the purple, green and white scarf I bought may be a little too tasteful for this event and will have to go back to the balaclava idea. I've got quite a lot of purple items - one particular blouse which is quite vile but very purple (don't know why I bought it). I am now very worried about the 'be interesting' part. My juggling is not all it should be - I keep dropping the chainsaws grin

Oldgreymare Sun 26-Aug-12 09:38:43

Jess a butterfly, I identified with Wendy Craig's character in the programme of the same name. I even 'fancied' Leonard! smile
I could never get the hang of crochet, tension all to pot!
Looking forward to meeting you too.

JessM Sun 26-Aug-12 07:03:34

Looking forward to meeting you OGM, Must get some purple wool. I am learning to crochet. Have bought myself some lovely books on how to crochet various plants, insects and sea creatures. Have managed one, plain, fish so far. Maybe a purple butterfly? Or maybe a shark? The prawns and sea horses look cute but complicated.
I like the suggestion of a who do you think i am game. And in the interim, if you were a sea creature or a "mini beast" (land invertebrate in school speak) what would you be?

Oldgreymare Sat 25-Aug-12 09:55:25

P.S. I'll be the one looking like an old aubergine (all in purple).

Oldgreymare Sat 25-Aug-12 09:53:38

My tickets are booked too petallus I hope to join the 9.30 from Bristol providing my connection gets me there in time. (That will give me a bit of time to -poke- look around the gallery.)

petallus Sat 25-Aug-12 09:38:52

Just booked my train tickets.

Finished knitting glittery purple-ish scarf.

Old but I thought the idea was that we would all go and shake up Brum so it doesn't know what has hit it!

Last year in Malvern we had the biggest number of clowns anywhere and knocked Canada out of the GBR. It was very colourful so we should aim for having the same impact on Brum. I have this vision of Jeni wielding her purple, white and green crutches up New St yelling 'Get out the way, Gransnetters are coming' followed by a whole lot more of the contingent. smile

Oldgreymare Mon 20-Aug-12 10:35:37

grrrranny I shall do as I'm told hmm and wear a badge, with my name on but my GN name will be on the reverse, which I shall pluck out of my handbag at the last minute. The thought of walking around B'ham clearly labelled 'Oldgreymare' would do nothing for my image! grin
