Midlands meet up

Feeling very envious that Scottish Grannies have got themselves organised.
Are there any grannies within striking distance of a Midlands centre who would like to do the same? I am in Milton Keynes but trains to Brum are frequent and fast. Any takers?

JessM Mon 06-Aug-12 14:51:04

Aw gracesmum not the initiation ritual with the stripper dressed as an American sailor and the bucket of baby oil? You disappoint me!

glitabo Mon 06-Aug-12 14:50:35

There is a floosie in the jacuzzi in Dublin. Now that is a good place for a meet up. We could tour Jameson's and Guinness. The more cultured of us could visit the Book of Kells.
Oh I love Dublin.

jeni Mon 06-Aug-12 14:37:58

Is the fountain the floosie in the jacuzzi one or Jo Chamberlains old one?

petallus Mon 06-Aug-12 14:33:11

I'm going to knit a scarf in white green and purple in time for our meeting.

susiecb Mon 06-Aug-12 14:33:01

If you are very good I will show you my bunions.grin can you knit bunion covers?

grrrranny Mon 06-Aug-12 13:25:20

Yes we are still suffering from the $searchtopic name thing - not just this thread but intermittently all over the place. Probably when M15 or similar are monitoring the posts wink And tech seems to be playing around as well.

glitabo Mon 06-Aug-12 13:04:05

This thread keeps disappearing. I had to use the search box to get it.

Ella46 Mon 06-Aug-12 10:52:50

I've just done the virtual tour and it looks very impressive. If crimson gets a bit squiffy you can cool her off in the fountain outside! grin

I think you'll all have a great time and possibly make the local TV news!

grrrranny Mon 06-Aug-12 10:50:07

That really made me laugh gracesmum - I had forgotten about that one grin grin grin

gracesmum Mon 06-Aug-12 10:46:46

The more the merrier, yummygran! As to initiation ceremonies, grrrranny, ....................there will be that one with the blindfold, the banana and the blancmange grin

grrrranny Mon 06-Aug-12 10:33:41

yum If you want to come you should pop your name on the other thread - midlands venue vote so that gracesmum (and the police) can keep track of numbers.

grrrranny Mon 06-Aug-12 10:26:44

Yum Course you can come - Midlands Chapter doesn't have any wierd initiation ceremony (that I know of).

Yummygran Mon 06-Aug-12 10:24:07

Can I come too please, sounds fun?

grrrranny Mon 06-Aug-12 10:23:41

Great - at this rate we will be 'kettled' back to the train station - mounted police, dogs, the lot grin jeni of course we will help. It sounds like we will need a virtual prize for the most original (outlandish) purple, green, white ensemble. I was going to drive to the first train station on my trip but then wouldn't be able to have a small restorative (I'm another who gets instantly giggly and silly) so may have to rethink that part of the expedition. susiecb I have a great knitting pattern for a balaclava which I may knit up in Chapter colours for the event. You will be begging me for a copy but it is mine so there but you will be envy - glad you are coming.

gracesmum Mon 06-Aug-12 10:05:03

gringrin
Or we could do readings from 50 Shades................grin

glitabo Mon 06-Aug-12 10:01:10

But I do have this Knitting pattern for use when const.........
grin

gracesmum Mon 06-Aug-12 09:45:21

In other words, no "organ recitals" !! Would we ever?
Glad you have changed your mindsmile

susiecb Mon 06-Aug-12 09:40:33

Thank you for the nice messages - Ok I'll come but no varicose vein showing, talking about constipation or swapping knitting patterns plse smile

petallus Mon 06-Aug-12 09:01:33

The 'tasteful beige outfits drinking lemon tea' scenario which grrranny refers to has captured my imagination. Can't we do that? It could be really quirky.

On the assumption that nobody else will want to I am already thinking of what I have got in white green and purple.

Am now going to contact my brother in law who lives in Brum for help in booking cheap trains.

Oldgreymare Mon 06-Aug-12 08:25:47

Just looked up your ref. Helmar the tea rooms look lovely albeit 'done up' for a wedding. Do you think they'll do the same for us? wink
Jeni and Co, can I look out for you at Bristol? I'm amassing my purple wardrobe as we speak.... do you think purple and pearls?

crimson Mon 06-Aug-12 00:29:49

If I have glass or two of wine I might not even make it home confused....

gracesmum Sun 05-Aug-12 23:20:00

Look out Birmingham - your arts and culture may never be the same after Hell's Grannies have been!
jeni will be decorated like a Christmas tree, crimson more than a little squiffy, there will be much giggling and when we try to get on the train home, the football hooligans will be cowering in a corner or complaining to the guard! grin

Helmar Sun 05-Aug-12 23:11:08

Sorry will try again www.bmag.org.uk

glitabo Sun 05-Aug-12 23:08:11

Apparently there are wheelchairs available to use while you are there.
I don't know if you have to book it or not.

Helmar Sun 05-Aug-12 23:07:44

You can take a virtual tour of Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery
