Feeling very envious that Scottish Grannies have got themselves organised.
Are there any grannies within striking distance of a Midlands centre who would like to do the same? I am in Milton Keynes but trains to Brum are frequent and fast. Any takers?

Look forward to meeting you crimson!!

I'll be feeling a bit sorry for myself that weekend having been in Paris for that weekend the year before so it will take the sting out of it, so that's a good date for me [unless I get whisked away again this year but, alas I don't think that's going to happen]. I've been wanting to go back to the old place for ages now and it will be a lovely way to do it. May see if I can stay overnight at my cousins house as I've been meaning to visit her for ages.

Fine with me!

glitabo Mon 30-Jul-12 19:45:41

Yes please gracesmum, do take executive decision for Saturday 6 October, then we have something to work on. I suppose it will make sense to decide where to have lunch once we know how many are going.
It seems like there will be a good group of us.

Can I take executive decision for Saturday 6 October for lunch and however long we feel like nattering then?
I have been thinking about places to eat and aware that some people will be spending a bit(quite a bit) on train fares, wanted to ask what sort of restaurant you fancy? The Edwardian Tea Rooms at the museun (0.3 m on foot from New Street) would be a possibility, or somewhere like Cafe Rouge in Brindley Place which is near the canal and a nice location. Any other suggestions? Don't need to decide till nearer the time, but am really looking forward to it - should be a laugh!

I'd love to join you all in Brum....I'm not too far away. I am going up to visit friends in Scotland in early October but the dates are not yet finalised...so if I'm not in Scotland I should be able to meet up with you all. smile

specki You're not the only one in S.W.France!

My name can go down there as well, please, I just hope that you`re not all ultra posh, cos I don`t/can`t do posh, I`m common as muck! Once a definite date is set, I can start looking at booking my train ticket.

glitabo Mon 30-Jul-12 10:27:41

I have already put it on the calendar. I am looking forward to this. Already wondering what to wear.

Elegran Mon 30-Jul-12 10:22:24

helmar probably did not work because you did not have the stars-and-name bit separated from the previous and/or following word with a space.

gracesmum Mon 30-Jul-12 10:20:29

Goody - getting quite excited!

petallus Mon 30-Jul-12 10:19:02

Although I have been living in the S E for forty years now, I come from the Midlands. DH grew up in Birmingham and we did our courting there.

I could probably make Birmingham if the time is right.

gracesmum Mon 30-Jul-12 10:17:32

*** troubles!

gracesmum Mon 30-Jul-12 10:17:01

Why didn't helmar work? Oh,*gillieB*, jeni and maniac I hope?

gracesmum Mon 30-Jul-12 10:15:46

Brilliant! So that's glitabo. OGM, susiecb,*helmar*, me for starters- any more for any more?

Oldgreymare Mon 30-Jul-12 09:43:41

Just caught up.... please can I come too? Train from Bristol ( with railcard), perhaps share a taxi to venue, enjoy driving but steer clear of inner cities! blush

susiecb Mon 30-Jul-12 04:11:57

I can do Brum in October as long as its a central location as i dont know the city well.

Helmar Mon 30-Jul-12 00:12:10

I am a long standing member of Gransnet but have only posted a few times. I read all the posts and feel like I know you all. As I live only 5 miles from "town" I feel that it would be such a missed opportunity if I didnt come along. Hope you wouldnt mind a lurker joining in.

glitabo Sun 29-Jul-12 23:11:29

I would be happy with October 6th.
smile

glitabo Sun 29-Jul-12 23:08:33

I prefer Saturday to Sunday, but I could do any of the dates.

gracesmum Sun 29-Jul-12 22:40:31

Can you fly to Birmingham International*specki*? That would be handy.

Right - who would be happy with Saturday 6 October?

specki4eyes Sun 29-Jul-12 22:01:22

No chance for me until October and I'll have to fly over, so you all make your date and if I can, I will. Its iffy though because I'm coming over in November too and DH will grumble.

crimson Sun 29-Jul-12 21:22:16

Yes; if they're going to close a line down it'll be on a Sunday.

gracesmum Sun 29-Jul-12 21:15:09

We can do zany. but it seems trains are less good on Sundays so I think it might be best to make it a Saturday. specki - arre you literally out of the equation until october? How about 6th??

jeni Sun 29-Jul-12 21:08:08

Rather be in zany companygrin
