Feeling very envious that Scottish Grannies have got themselves organised.
Are there any grannies within striking distance of a Midlands centre who would like to do the same? I am in Milton Keynes but trains to Brum are frequent and fast. Any takers?

Galen Bristol is fine by me xx

Galen Wed 13-Feb-13 22:06:14

12Michael I'm an ex civil servant too!
What branch were you in?

Galen Wed 13-Feb-13 22:04:07

April perhaps.
Seriously can we look at Bristol?

Oldgreymare Tue 12-Feb-13 22:41:55

Sorry 12Michael, Banbury is a bit complicated (Trains to Bristol/Brum are direct!)

Oldgreymare Tue 12-Feb-13 22:39:52

Brum/Bristol.... yes please (either/or)

Galen Tue 12-Feb-13 21:59:11

Sounds good to me!
Or would people like to come to Bristol?

grrrranny Tue 12-Feb-13 21:19:36

March or April sounds good - weather will be a bit better and the days a bit longer. Whenever another one is planned I will really try to make it. Last one sounded fun.

Only just back online; would be interested if date suits (and no gannyduties that day!!) Glad to hear that movedalot is able to move a little bit more!!

gracesmum Tue 12-Feb-13 20:55:03

I let it go while movedalot was awaiting news on her back problem, but if there is demand we could look at maybe March or Aoril? I was so sorry you couldn't make it last time grrranny and hope it might be possible with enough notice?
If no demand at the moment we can leave it for a bit and see how others feel -it doesn't have to be a huge gathering - quality not quantity!

grrrranny Tue 12-Feb-13 20:38:14

I am broke - it's not that I don't want to go to a meet up. I was all set for last one, train tickets booked and everything but had to work at last minute. And had all the purple and white and green! I should have said this earlier as it must just have looked as if I wasn't interested but that is not the case. [sorry]

Movedalot Tue 12-Feb-13 11:28:57

Are we going ahead with a midsmeet? It all seems to have gone quiet. It may be that we are all being too lazy to organise it and are leaving it to Gracemum to do it again.

I'm feeling cautiously optimistic that I will be able to go as my back has suddenly improved! Not better yet but not crippling me as it was smile

12Michael Tue 12-Feb-13 10:59:41

I live in South Northamptonshire in Brackley ,and I used to get meetings up on saga zone.
We met at places like the Malt shovel tavern in Northampton ,and a eat as much as want at Sixfields for lunch.
At present I have been getting meetings in nearby Banbury, held at lunchtime in the Reindeer Inn in Parsons street, with meals in its famous Globe Room.
It attracts local plus Brum area as well to these lunches , next one is 28th Feb at the above 12 start.
12Michael (Mick)
PS I would be interetsed incontcting anyone in Northants or Oxon which are within a bus ride from me.

Oh I'm sure we'll do it again! It was great fun....It's funny how desperate I was to get away from Brum when I was young but how much I love it now.

janey Tue 11-Dec-12 17:32:45

OH my!!! I have just read some the earlier postings and have got atouch of home sickness. I lived in Stourbridge for 15years and missed it when I moved to bedfordshire for a 5year stint, Moved to Malvern then and lived there for 19years and at the moment am missing it to the point that i feel i have a limb missing. Moved of my own volition so have no-one to blame but myself!!
If you all have another get together I would love to come. I still have friends in the malvern area and its such a short drive to B'Ham from there. I was looking at someones pictures the other day and it looked like everyone was having a lot of fun at one of the get togethers.

Calling yummygran, bookdreamer and susiecb (and all others unable to make Midlands Meet-up) - sorry not to meet you last weekend in Brum. Hope all is well and that you will be able to meet next time?

numberplease Mon 08-Oct-12 18:07:12

Movedalot, your label must have had stickability, I lost mine between the museum and the Copthorne!

JessM Mon 08-Oct-12 18:04:21

Oh yes, there we are!

Movedalot Mon 08-Oct-12 18:02:02

Thanks for that number, we certainly managed the purple! I still have my feather and only realised I was still wearing it and my label when I got home so it may have amused some people at the theatre!

numberplease Mon 08-Oct-12 17:13:42

Well, I`ve finally managed to upload 2 pics from Saturday`s meet, but they`re a bit small, sorry.

gracesmum Sun 07-Oct-12 18:40:02

I think" go to pub for dinner " might have been best option!

crimson Sun 07-Oct-12 18:39:42

number; I once spent a day waiting on tables at a local pub when it was mothers day, only to get home and have the family look up and ask what I was cooking for tea. I don't think my reply was 'chippy'. We do need a photo as an aide memoire [says I who can't even use my digital camera properly let alone upload a picture onto here]. There's something awful about having to walk that bit further when you thought you'd reached the end of a journey, isn't there. I'm so glad you got home safely though. I think a meet up in your neck of the woods one day is in order as a thank you. [oh; and forgot to say big thank you to gracesmum sunshine].

JessM Sun 07-Oct-12 18:33:46

I had a similar greeting number once he had said hello nicely to gracemum and glitabo.
Somewhat anxious and shattered in station, having cycled for 4 hours and not eaten much...
"I forgot to get the mince out of the freezer. Do you want to um go to M and S and get something, or something?"
