Sorry to hear you were taken ill Absent, I nearly chose the pasta with mushrooms but sort of changed my mind at the last minute.
I walked up Dean Street like I was power walking, something I only do after a few glasses!.

I was fine, but then harri only had one glass of wine because I am the goody two shoes. Might have been a different story if we were drinking pink champagne mind

It was definitely something toxic that caused the problem but I shall spare you the sordid details. Too much wine doesn't do that gillybob and certainly doesn't cause such agonising spasms for hours on end. Not a night to remember.

Bad mushrooms are very dangerous and I missed out on the meet up as I was elsewhere but that is my default meal . Absent do tell the restaurant. They should check their suppliers and have a system in place for checking food.
I knew I should have gone as I would have seen you onto the same train. I have in the past been directed on to a train which doesn't stop in Durham and they have given me a ticket back. Now I must admit I double check over the door and prefer to come home by bus from John Lewis back door.

I felt a little bit rough this morning. Definitely not blaming my seafood pasta which was delicious by the way.

Don't think it would be the mushrooms gillybob commercial premises buy in bulk from specialist companies. I would guess at a dirty glass or piece of cutlery.

Good grief absent! Sorry, but I had to smile when I read you went north instead of south! I'm so pleased I didn't choose any mushroom dish, I was slightly wobbly on the way back to the station, but then my day ended at around 4:30 so no temptation to drink any more , in which case I'm sure I would have found it difficult to locate platform 7!

Ohhh absent once you were over the bridge gilly and I couldnt see which direction you had gone in, why dont they let you on platforms these days if your not travelling, Mr A must have been out of his mind.. YOU NEED TO CARRY A MOBILE!!!!!

Crikey absent what a terrible time you've had. I hope you're fully recovered today. My friend had poisoning from wild mushrooms that a relative had foraged, and was really sick for 36 hours. Take care

I have just arrived home – 9.30 Friday morning. First of all I managed to get on the wrong train and found myself heading non-stop to Berwick. The nice ticket collector was very sympathetic and issued me with ticket for the next train that I would be able to catch back to Darlington free of charge. However, by the time we arrived in Berwick I was doubled up with agonising stomach cramps. There was absolutely no possibility of travelling for another hour and half on a train so I asked a taxi driver to take me to a hotel and he deposited me at a Travelodge where I spent a very disturbed and uncomfortable night. Thank goodness for ensuite bathrooms. At one point I felt so awful that I contemplated crawling down the stairs to ask the night receptionist to call an ambulance but I was in too much pain. Unfortunately, there was no telephone in the room or in reception and I don't have a mobile so I couldn't let Mr absent know what had happened. Apparently he waited up until one o'clock in the morning and then didn't sleep much either. By the time I got home he was thinking about ringing the police. Without going into unwholesome details of the evidence, the only explanation I can find is that there must have been a dodgy fungus in my pasta with locally sourced wild mushrooms. I think Janeainsworth had wild mushroom risotto so I do hope she wasn't taken the same way. I am feeling quite a lot better now but not 100%.

Otherwise, the day was lovely.
