Any other gransnetters based in Warwickshire? There's interest in a meet-up there: http://local.gransnet.com/forums/local_warwickshire_meet_ups/1197126-New-Grandmother

Hello All

I have been reading this thread with interest as I live near Stratford upon Avon too and may have answer to parking problem as they have built Stratford Parkway station before old station you can park there and use half hourly train into town .... much more visitor friendly.
I hope this solves the problem for many and I would be happy to meet ... let me know what you think.

and a enjoyable place to meet and greet is Carluccio's on Waterside if interested ... great atmosphere there ... Su

MrsSB Tue 25-Jun-13 14:10:23

Nana2TVJ, I can't think of anywhere around here really, south of the county is much better served for nice places than the north unfortunately. I'd be happy to drive to Kenilworth or Leamington Spa, or Stratford at a push (though couldn't stay long if Stratford as I have to get back for the dog and it's probably getting on for an hour's drive). it would be nice to meet others though so whatever is decided I'll see if I can make it.

Nana2TVJ Tue 25-Jun-13 18:28:25

Okay as there are a few of us keen to meet up I need to ask would it be better for a weekend meet up. I know some of us care for our grandchildren so would need to make arrangements if it's to be in the week. We have the River Festival coming up in Stratford the weekend of the 6th/7th July which will be lovely but very busy. Thoughts please.

MrsSB Tue 25-Jun-13 21:00:16

Weekdays are easier for me but I might be able to do a weekend, depending when it is.

Nana2TVJ Tue 25-Jun-13 21:41:49

Thanks MrsSB will see what the others say.

Aka Tue 25-Jun-13 22:23:23

Are we talking daytime or evening meet up?

Nana2TVJ Fri 28-Jun-13 20:15:03

Aka asked if daytime or evening. I think evening would be quite nice, while we still have some lovely light evenings to sit outside. If we chose Carluccio's on Waterside in Stratford then we have the option to sit in or out if the weather changes. Apart from a couple of evenings I can be quite flexible. I will fire some dates out and see what you all think. Thursday or Friday evening 11th/12th July or 19th/20th July. How do any of these sound?

Nana2TVJ Sat 29-Jun-13 13:37:33

The 19th/20th seems to be best date so far. Who would like to join me at Carluccio's on one of those evenings? smile

Yesterdaysgirl Thu 04-Jul-13 12:36:17

19th/20 sounds good but as I do not drive evenings will be out for me last bus home is 6.25 pm.

Keep me posted please ... Su

Nana2TVJ Thu 04-Jul-13 19:21:57

Okay shall we have a day meet up on Friday 19th July at Carluccio's. Su let us know times for buses to get you into Stratford. Who can join me and Su?

MrsSB Fri 05-Jul-13 18:42:49

I might be able to, depending on what time is arranged. Can I be a "maybe" at this stage?

gracesmum Sat 06-Jul-13 22:48:29

Hope you all have a lovely time on 19th. In Stratford today to see the Jonathan Slinger "Hamlet"(me) and "Titus Andronicus" (DH) at RSC and supper at Carluccio's with DDs, SILs and friends and I thought of you all and hope the weather is as gorgeous as it was today! Stratford was truly "en fete" in the glorious sunshine - a totally holiday atmosphere.
One of those "golden days" to treasure. smile

Yesterdaysgirl Sun 07-Jul-13 19:52:10

Oh lovely Gracesmum ... it was Stratford River Festival as well over this weekend 6/7th that is besides Shipston Proms which I help run and our last night was brilliant and hot ie the weather. A perfect time for that visit ... Yes

Nana2TVJ Sun 07-Jul-13 20:44:06

Hello,

We will be meeting on Friday 19th July at Carluccio's, I will be there just after 12 and hopefully secure us a table. There may be 5 of us but any extra will be a lovely bonus. Looking forward to meeting some new faces. Message me if you need any other info.

Yesterdaysgirl I hope you have found your curved brackets now! smile

gracesmum Sun 14-Jul-13 20:57:29

You could do what we did at the Midalnds meet up last autumn. We agreed to wear purple, but unfortunately it resulted in various perfectly decent citizens of Birmingham being accosted and asked "Are you one of us?" just because they had by chance chosen to wear aubergine/ wine/ plum!!

Tegan Sun 14-Jul-13 21:00:43

...and were of a 'certain age' wink...

Nana2TVJ Mon 15-Jul-13 19:38:51

Hello

I have reserved a table under name of Gransnetters. Has to be indoors as they can't hold an outdoor table for us. We can always go out if we see an available table once a few of us have arrived.

Looking forward to Friday smile

gracesmum Mon 15-Jul-13 21:43:18

I'll be there on Wednesday (A Mad World My Masters at The Swan) shall I warn Carluccio's that a select group of refined grandmotherly ladies will be gracing the establishment - or shall I tell them you are coming!!gringrin

Nana2TVJ Thu 18-Jul-13 20:13:12

gracesmum, hope you enjoyed your day out on Wednesday, look forward to meeting up with you next time. Carluccio's may naturally bar me from coming again, as I will be the crazy lady who pours a jug of water over herself as I understand tomorrow is going to be a degree hotter then today. blush

Yesterdaysgirl Thu 18-Jul-13 22:05:19

ok crazy lady ARE you sure you want to meet tomorrow ... with the heat we can always do it another day etc ... it will not last for ever !

SPEAK UP NOW PLEASE ... I do understand honestly as it is hot ...

In fact I am going to cry off to because of the weather nothing else ... call it sanity with me catching bus in ... am sure we will meet soon.

Yesterdaysgirl

gracesmum Thu 18-Jul-13 22:44:10

I did warn them that you are ladies "d'un certain age", of a sensitive and genteel disposition who definitely don't drink, only have soft food and will have fits of the vapours if it all gets too exciting.
No, I didn't I told then how it is and they have booked the riot squad and police dogs.
Have a wonderful time!!
PS I used the Park and Ride and got bus into town using my bus pass - so easy!

Yesterdaysgirl Thu 18-Jul-13 22:53:12

You are lucky Gracesmum ... I do not drive so that is my reality as I walk everywhere or take a bus or train ... no escape for me ...smile

And why do I think I am being taken the micky of on here ... I have withdrawn ok x

Nana2TVJ Fri 19-Jul-13 08:29:01

Oh dear I think Carluccio's will never get to see my alternative use for a jug of water! I think it best we try and meet up when it's a little cooler as most people have had to cancel. Keep watching the forum for another date, possibly meet up in September now.

Keep safe everyone x
