On another thread some of us discovered that there were quite a few GNs living in the Reading area so we have decided to meet up on 18th July possibly in the restaurant in John Lewis. There are 3 takers at the moment so it would be lovely if others could join us.

Will do the same with a scarf.

noodles Wed 04-Sept-13 20:19:12

and I'll tie a bright scarf round my handbag. So looking forward to tomorrow!

Deedaa Wed 04-Sept-13 20:14:47

Just checked the train times smile I shall be wearing a green and turquoise patterned top and cream trousers (thats just me and half the population then)

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow 10.30 John Lewis Reading (just in case you have forgotten) grin

We will certainly arrange another meetup for the end of October dustyangel. Perhaps a different venue may be preferred for that one.

As you know I won't be able to come this time. Enjoy yourselves everyone.
I will be around for the last two weeks in October so maybe time for another meet up then. I think one of weeks is half term though.
love from envy

Memo to self "find diary" confused

Gorki Tue 27-Aug-13 08:36:45

Remember to put Thursday 5th September in your diaries for the Reading meetup. 10.30( or thereabouts )in the restaurant of John Lewis in the centre of town. All GNs from Berkshire, Surrey and Hampshire (and elsewhere ) most welcome .

Gorki Thu 15-Aug-13 23:02:06

Yes indeed. I'll keep bumping it up to try to get a few more GNs interested. smile

nanaej Thu 15-Aug-13 22:36:59

See you then!

Gorki Thu 15-Aug-13 21:51:41

Just to confirm then, it seems the general consensus is for the restaurant in John Lewis on Thursday 5th September at 10.30. Looking forward to meeting everybody then. Hopefully it will be noodles, Deedaa, nanaej myself and possibly GadaboutGran.

Anyone else for Reading?

noodles Thu 15-Aug-13 18:09:17

Parking in the Oracle is easy and only a short walk to John Lewis.

Looking forward to meeting you all. Roll on September.

nanaej Wed 14-Aug-13 23:42:02

Happy to find my way to JL if that is what the decision is.

Deedaa Wed 14-Aug-13 23:33:21

There are certainly plenty of coffee shops and the like. I'm quite happy with John Lewis myself.

Gorki Wed 14-Aug-13 13:58:41

I've looked up Waitrose and it would appear to be about a mile and a half from Reading West station which has steep steps if mobility is a problem.Noodles knows the area better than I do and will put me right if necessary.

I would still plump for central Reading especially if coming by train and then anyone wanting to combine their visit with a trip to the shops (not me !)would find it easier. I will be coming by bus so either option is OK for me. Last time we went to John Lewis and that was fine. From the train station you need to keep walking straight on towards the shops and you will come to John Lewis. Not far--about 5-10 mins. walk. Does anyone have any other ideas ?

Deedaa Tue 13-Aug-13 23:49:50

If it's central Reading I shall get the train, but I would probably drive to Waitrose. (My husband used to be one of their drivers so will give me more directions than I can possibly compute!)

nanaej Tue 13-Aug-13 21:38:29

Hi it's me coming by train! I can always cab it if it is not too far from the station!

GadaboutGran Tue 13-Aug-13 21:31:39

I shall try & come but I know my childcare day will be different that week & I won't know until they are back from holiday. I prefer to come by train but can come by car or get a bus from the station if you want to go out of town. (Is Waitrose far from Reading West station? - the slow trains stop there).

noodles Tue 13-Aug-13 14:56:41

Yes, it is quite a long way down Oxford Road - just past the Richfield Avenue roundabout. It's my 'local' shop.

I agree with you Gorki that a central venue would make more sense for anyone using the train.

Gorki Tue 13-Aug-13 09:12:35

I didn't know there was a Waitrose on Oxford Road noodles. Is it far along? Could be a possibility but one of the Surrey GNs may be coming by train and doesn't know Reading so maybe a more central venue would be better ?

noodles Mon 12-Aug-13 19:43:32

If parking is an issue, perhaps the Waitrose on Oxford Road is worth considering? They have a Costa and a good car park.
