Was it one of the Marx brothers who said he would not want to belong to any club which would accept someone like him? It may have been someone else.

The trouble with being over-particular about who you socialise with is that may turn out to be just as fussy and you end up friendless.

And you don't find out everything about someone from one meeting - or from a profile. I, of course, am young-looking, beautiful, intelligent, sweet-natured and multi-talented, and I have the written evidence to prove it.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall - hope there are pictures of this meet up grin

Elegran Wed 07-Aug-13 12:07:20

Sounds to me as though this meetup will never happen.

Anne58 Wed 07-Aug-13 12:15:08

It might, but possibly without all contributors!

For those of you with a CO postcode, I am going to be hosting a virtual local meetup for an informal getting to know you chat on the Colchester forum on Friday.

If you can't make it you can introduce yourself beforehand and take a look later.

I hope to have weekly local online chats with different subjects and on different days and times....these will also be advertised on our Facebook page.

I have been to two meet-ups and thoroughly enjoyed both. I found lovely warm funny and friendly women and we had a great laugh as well as talking 19 to the dozen I would NEVER have bothered to "check them out" in advance in the way you suggest youngsaucygranny - and I assume they didn't check me out either ( I believe you said : "I would be happy to exchange details of age, hobbies, interests etc and see if I have enough in common for meets.") - if they did, I just hope I lived up (or down) to expectations. I'm afraid I just don't see where you are coming from - and I don't mean Essex ! This is a discussion forum and a place where we can and do have a lively exchange of views, ask for and offer advice and opinions, have a laugh at jokes or humorous situations and if a lunch or a coffee or tea produces potential friends - that is a bonus! Some members prefer to retain the anonymity of not meeting face to face and that is fine too.

Well, how to make friends!

Ariadne Thu 19-Dec-13 11:59:45

Oh dear; that is your second very judgemental post, feistysmartlady. Yet you are accusing us of being stupid, without having "met" any of us on other threads, as far as I can see.

Tegan Thu 19-Dec-13 12:16:55

A judgemental post critiscising judgemental posts confusedconfusedconfused....?

whenim64 Thu 19-Dec-13 12:42:56

Not heard a credible hypnotherapist calling people stupid in public before. Just sayin' grin

Galen Thu 19-Dec-13 13:33:55

I'm a qualified medical hypnotherapist and I wouldn't dream of calling anyone stupid ( well, not without meeting them anyway?)

Riverwalk Thu 19-Dec-13 13:43:33

feistysmartlady are you also saucyyounggranny? tchsmile

You both have clients that you service from home.

Elegran Thu 19-Dec-13 14:51:54

Yes, feistysmartlady you must be a clone of youngsaucygranny . Same writing style, same large chip on shoulder, same contempt for boring elderly ladies who meet up without checking the credentials of those they might meet and sometimes mention to their friends that they are more than 56 and have some aches and pains (you must be 57 by now. Have the aches and pains set in yet, dear?)

Sorry, I am not best known for my aggressive posts, and I don't often do this but as I am 74 and a half and have just brought home a heavy shopping trolleyful of christmas stuff from Tesco's, on the bus, and pulled it up a steep hill with the arm that I did not dislocate in a fall a month ago (the other one still needs a lot of painful exercises before it will have the strength) I feel qualified to be a bit cross at your posts on here and on the other thread.

Boast about being feisty or saucy when you have overcome an obstacle or two on your way to feistyness. 56 is no age. you are a spring chicken, of course you are feisty.

No wonder you are looking for online friends if you won't speak to anyone who has not been vetted. I don't think I would pass your high standards, so I suspect I would not be blessed with your esteemed friendship.
