Hi. I’m new to this. I am a woman over 50 with 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren. I hail from the North East - specifically South Shields. I find at this age, after going back to University that I really don’t have any friends. I am single too and have been for a few years, and can get quite lonely sometimes. Is there anyone who would like to meet up, just for a natter and a coffee?

Thanks from me, too, to Glass; it was a lovely day (and yes, it was a day as I didn't get home until gone 5 o'clock - wretched buses).

We were reminiscing and some of us realised that we had known each other almost three years now - in my case since we went to Gally's for the day.

Nice to meet some new faces, too. (And I can't believe that we sat in brilliant sunshine at the side of the Monument in a pavement cafe in Newcastle!).

I think we've got the hang of it now Ayse grin
It was lovely to meet you, look forward to the next time smile

Thanks to glass for organising and to all of you for a great lunch and wonderful afternoon. It was good to meet you all and I look forward to a next time smile.
I'll look forward to going to Edinburgh next time as I haven't been there since I was a child. I think I'll change the spelling of my name to Aisha so it's not so difficult to pronounce.
Best to all

Thankyou glass it is my fault as I have not been on here for a bit

Marelli Sat 12-Jul-14 20:18:35

Oh, so she did, Tegan! And I bet hers was a great big diamond one, eh! grin

Tegan Sat 12-Jul-14 19:31:41

You're in good company Marelli; didn't Helen Mirren realise she was an earring short when she received her Oscar the other year?

Elegran Sat 12-Jul-14 18:57:38

Not to worry Glass . Think I'll get a few early nights and see if there is any improvement though.

Envy you a trip to Pani's. Gloriously hot in Scotland but I spent it in a car ferrying the DGCs and DH around. Misty moisty today.

Sorry elegran I loaded it from my phone and it looked fine ... but I didn't have my lenses in.Its usually me with my eyes shut on photos.

Elegran Sat 12-Jul-14 10:25:07

Ha ha! grin

MiceElf Sat 12-Jul-14 10:02:13

No you don't Elegran, you look authoritative and serene

whenim64 Sat 12-Jul-14 09:59:47

I've seen your photos, courtesy of Moomin and JaneA and I think you ALL look fabulous! That looked like a very happy get-together. smile

Elegran Sat 12-Jul-14 09:40:52

I look bleary-eyed, fat and old

Almost enough to get me dieting.

Marelli Sat 12-Jul-14 09:35:40

Well, at least you didn't look like Red Rum, Elegran - but I did! Hadn't realised one earring was off (lost!) and all that on a lime and soda! Oh well, why try to change the habit of a lifetime - I'm just not very photogenic blush

Elegran Sat 12-Jul-14 09:14:53

Great time yesterday. Thanks to Glass for organising it and a lovely choice of restaurant. Mean of you to post such an awful picture of me on Facebook, though! Blasted waiter waited until I blinked. Why does everyone else always look so much better than I do in photos? Don't answer that.

moomin Sat 12-Jul-14 08:19:27

I know that black and swollen foot look harri, hope it's not too painful today

gillybob Sat 12-Jul-14 08:02:39

Enjoyed another great meet up. Lovely to see everyone again and meet Ayse for the first time. Thanks for organizing the restaurant Glass wasn't the weather just lovely when we sat and had our drinks under the watchful eye of Earl Grey? Looking forward to the next one. [ smile]

Oh dear Harri I do hope you are okay. I can fall over a feather so Glass always reminds me not to wear my "fally down shoes" . Thinking of you.

moomin Fri 11-Jul-14 22:17:28

Yes, thanks glass for sorting it out (as usual!). Great to meet old friends again and to meet Ayse for the first time.

Must be the turn of us Northumberland GNers to make the trip next time and come to Edinburgh

janeainsworth Fri 11-Jul-14 22:09:28

Great to see everyone, and to meet Ayse, and thank you to the Edinburgh grans for making the trip down, and to Glass for organising smile

Marmight Fri 11-Jul-14 22:07:03

Great day in Newcastle. Thanks Glass for organising the restaurant. Lovely to meet up with everyone again and to meet Ayse. I have been gargling with a glass or two of wine after all that talking! Weren't we so lucky with the beautiful weather. I shall look forward to the next meeting - perhaps in Edinburgh.

glassortwo Fri 11-Jul-14 21:41:38

harri I have just seen your post, are you ok?

glassortwo Fri 11-Jul-14 21:41:00

Ohh pink I should have thought and messaged you, but I wont forget for the next meet up if your not around. Hope you are ok?

glassortwo Fri 11-Jul-14 21:39:45

marelli it was a good day, and great to meet old and new friends again, looking forward to seeing ayse at the next meeting. Ehh 3 years would you believe it.

I have tried to put some photos on direct from my phone but is taking forever to download so might have to wait until tomorrow.

pinkprincess Fri 11-Jul-14 21:38:42

I have just seen this and sorry I missed you all, pleased you had a great day.
I will have to keep logging into Gransnet a bit more. I hope to catch the next one.
