Who is interested in meeting round about 7th September?

If you are on Facebook the Gransnet Edinburgh Calendar is at https://www.facebook.com/GransnetEdinburgh/app_101709316537832

I have had a look online, and it sounds as though all is well. Bar Missoni seems to be a part of G & V Hotel, I George IV Bridge (corner of the Royal Mile)

I have emailed them to reserve six for afternoon tea (in case anyone else is tempted) Will keep you posted when they reply.

Baubles - Are these the kilts you saw? They look rather haute couture.

Elegran Sun 31-Aug-14 19:02:27

Done and dusted, have booked for six just in case and they have replied, and asked whether any of the party have any dietary requirements? I felt like replying, No, stuff diets, this is a treat! but I was too ladylike.

The price seems to have crept up to £21.50 on the menu they attached. I am sorry about that.

Marelli Sun 31-Aug-14 19:17:53

Thank you for doing that for us, Elegran. Just thought - it does sound rather posh - will I need to wear my gownless evening strap, do you think? shock

Elegran Sun 31-Aug-14 19:29:46

That would get us plenty of good Italian service! I am not sure what I shall wear - most of my clothes are looking a bit weary now. May have to go on a sortie to find something nice . . .

Marelli Sun 31-Aug-14 19:39:05

Too late for a proper sortie for me, I'll have to rake through my drawers....hopefully there will be something there that will not frighten the horses. grin!

2.30 is fine for me. As for the kilts, no that wasn't them Elegran, they weren't tartan but the zig zaggy Missoni pattern.

Looking forward to seeing everyone! thanks Elegran.

Thanks elegran for arranging this see you on Sunday smile

Elegran Mon 01-Sept-14 10:02:39

See everyone on Sunday. Ayse can't make it, so we will be just four - unless anyone else would like a nice afternoon tea and gossip? Two spare places now?

Elegran Sun 07-Sept-14 22:13:30

Another good cake-and-blether session. The afternoon tea was well up to expectations and so were the designer kilts. Elizabeth1 reminded us to check out the rather hairy shapely Italian legs as we left.

Did not need any evening meal.

Elizabeth1 Mon 08-Sept-14 07:09:09

Yes elegran it was a very lovely afternoon. Edinburgh was just buzzingly beautiful. The designer kilt and the gorgeous Italian young man in it - well what can I say? Thanks again Elegran and to baubles and Marelli for a great day smile

baubles Mon 08-Sept-14 08:22:43

I think I could get used to afternoon tea, although I'm not entirely sure that there is a need for ice lollies to start smile. It was a smashing afternoon in the company of Elegran, Marelli and Elizabeth1.

Edinburgh was indeed beautiful in the autumn sunshine.

Looking forward to the next time.

Marelli Mon 08-Sept-14 09:07:08

It was a lovely afternoon, in lovely company! I quite enjoyed the blue ice-lolly starter....and wasn't affected by the possible e-numbers that might have been in it (and I hardly even noticed the rather handsome, hairy-legged, kilted and booted chaps) wink! Like Elegran, I needed no more to eat for the rest of the day. I think Elizabeth1 was going to the chip shop after dropping me off, though shock? She said she was going for a fish supper for her DH wink!

DRAT!!! I`m only just reading this today. I just found this thread by a fluke. I`d love to have joined you all and I easily could have. I spent yesterday pm doing a washing and watching TV in solitary splendour. Och! Next time I hope.

Marelli Mon 08-Sept-14 10:24:55

Oh Jane!! sad We're hoping to have another one in October - keep an eye on the 'meet up' threads? We have quite regular meets in Edinburgh (oor Elegran is very good at sussing out venues)! smile

Elegran Mon 08-Sept-14 10:51:37

I do hope you can be there, Jane10 Keep watching the "meet-up" threads!

Now that this one is behind us (like the weight we have put on with all the ice lollies, cakes, scones and little "chef's specials") it is time to fix the details for the next in October. I shall start a new thread soon.

We must fix where we are eating after the theatre in December too.

Jane10 Mon 08-Sept-14 13:53:27

I`ll certainly be looking out for Edinburgh in the "meet up" threads. How did you all recognise each other? I would be bound to sidle up to the wrong group and try to casually join in the chat!

Elegran Mon 08-Sept-14 14:14:58

The first time we met for a coffee (me, Marelli, Marmight and Glassortwo) I was waiting just inside the glass doors because of the pouring rain and the other three accosted an innocent woman waiting outside the glass doors for her husband to fetch the car.

Elizabeth1 Mon 08-Sept-14 15:40:29

I only had a very little fish and chips just to join in with my DH. Couldn't see him eating alone now could I. That wouldn't be very sociable. wink
