Friends Reunited

Now that the Friends Reunited site has been closed down, could Gransnet set up something similar for us to contact or trace old school/work friends or neighbours who are members of this site or people who just want new pen pals or to meet up and make friends with people who have similar interests.

Facebook is not really the same thing as Friends Reunited was- whereby you could search by school/university/work etc. for old mates who had registered, thereby showing an interest in being contacted. There are too many people on facebook with the same name as it is open to the world. I choose not to use facebook because they are censoring comments of people who feel disenfranchised by their current governments e.g. Germans can't say anything anti the migrants' crisis there.

I have noted that you do not want to use FB but couldn't that be a start? My old school has a FB page and it is a really good way of hearing about people from the same place.
