Inspired by the Edinburgh meet up I thought I would suggest a London one say around mid summer- is anyone interested?

Gillboo Wed 01-Jun-16 09:02:32

Hi everyone just joined today seen your meet up would love to have come live in Havering Essex Area but unfortunately on hols 14th June but will def keep posted for another meet up.??

michellehargreaves Fri 26-Feb-16 12:17:10

Granny knot, thank you for the info. A new member (obviously) I only just saw this post. Drat and damnation! If I left the house now I would be late. And you would all be through your starters. Reminder to self : be more organised in future. Who would have thought it would take 44 min s on the train between Mortlake and Wimbledon! Perhaps there will be another opportunity for a local meeting?

Grannyknot Thu 25-Feb-16 22:22:16

There's a SWLondon meet-up tomorrow! (26th) ... I'm sorry I can't find the thread but it is at 1 p.m. at the Lu-Ma Restaurant in Wimbledon (Worple Road). smile Do come if you can Michelle

alchemillamollis Thu 25-Feb-16 21:27:53

Yes, it's definitely on - here:

I'm in SW London, too, michellehargreaves, hope to meet you on 14 June. thanks

michellehargreaves Thu 25-Feb-16 14:59:35

Is this still a possibility? I'm in south west London, handy for anywhere from Richmond to Waterloo. Dates? Late to the thread because I have been away! Would love to meet other GNenters!

I can make the 14 June. Looking forward to it! I am coming in from Kent, so brunch/lunch would be great. Would like to have come this morning but had previous appointment. ?

Elrel Mon 15-Feb-16 19:32:37

I shall put 14th June in my diary! The reserved space at the Southbank Centre/RFH Suzied mentioned above on Friday sounds promising, especially if there are a large number of us, we might overwhelm a smaller venue!

This Thursday I shall be in theFriends' cafe on Euston Road by 10.30.

Eloethan Mon 15-Feb-16 18:50:13

Thanks Elrel. Enjoy yourselves. The Friends Café is a nice, relaxing place to meet up - we were there on Friday evening before going to a talk at Birkbeck.

Hope to see you all on 14 June instead.

Charleygirl Mon 15-Feb-16 15:08:51

Sorry I cannot come this Thursday as I have a meeting with the Macular Society.

ninathenana Mon 15-Feb-16 14:28:17

I've made a note of 14th June.

Elrel Mon 15-Feb-16 10:30:14

Thank you to those who have posted about Thursday of this week 18/02/16.
I and at least one other will be in the Friends' Cafe on Euston Road, opposite the station at 11 on Thursday next.
Later we may move on to the Wellcome Collection just up the road.
Eloethan, Grannyknot - another time I hope!

Teetime Mon 15-Feb-16 09:07:40

Yes lets settle on 14th June I'll start a new thread so its clear.

Grannyknot Mon 15-Feb-16 06:51:35

alchemilla not at all smile

eloe That suits me (so far) so I have it pencilled in smile

Eloethan Mon 15-Feb-16 01:25:49

Is it settled for 14 June, lunchtime, then?

alchemillamollis Sun 14-Feb-16 17:05:58

I can do Tuesdays, and 14 June is fine, but afternoon tea would be too late for me. It needs to be lunch, brunch or elevenses. GrannyKnot's post above suggests that the same is true of her - hope I'm not misrepresenting you, GrannyKnot!

I wish I could do this Thursday but am busy this week, sadly.

Teetime Sun 14-Feb-16 14:55:01

Shall we go for 14th June then? I am really sorry about it being a weekday working Gransnetters but nothing to stop you arranging another date. One I have an idea of numbers I can book a table somewhere to make sure we all go together and can sit and chat comfortably. Anyone tried Jamie Oliver's training restaurant Fifteen I hear its superb but you have to book well in advance.

Eloethan Sun 14-Feb-16 12:33:52

I would have liked to meet up Elrel but I meet up with friends on Thursday mornings until about 1 p.m. and this week it is at my house.

I could therefore only make it around 4-5 and I don't know if this would be convenient for yourself and others.

TendringGran Sun 14-Feb-16 11:44:21

I'd like to meet up in London. I'd be travelling in from Essex but can get to anywhere in London. Afternoon tea would be lovely. the central court in the British Museum is a really up lifting place to be but I haven't tried the afternoon tea.

Grannyknot Sun 14-Feb-16 09:15:25

Hi elrel unfortunately I work two days a week and always on a Thursday for one of them. smile

Elrel Sun 14-Feb-16 09:05:48

Only one person interested so far who can manage Thursday. Anyone else interested?

Elrel Fri 12-Feb-16 12:22:04

Anyone in London feel like an impromptu meet up, tea, coffee, museum, gallery next week? I'm house + GC sitting and the GC will do their own things during the day. Just a thought!

suzied Fri 12-Feb-16 05:03:36

I can't do Tuesday's as I'm at college on a Tuesday. Term ends on July 9th. Any other day of the week is fine! The southbank Centre / Royal Festival Hall has a large spacious bar/cafe and a big terrace to sit outside. Could be a nice venue, they also have spaces you can reserve( I'm a member) maybe an idea.

Eloethan Fri 12-Feb-16 00:00:09

I should be able to do either.

alchemillamollis Thu 11-Feb-16 23:04:41

I'm very excited by the prospect of this; thank you so much for taking the initiative, Teetime. flowers And looking forward to meeting all you other lovely Gransnetters. wine

Grannyknot Thu 11-Feb-16 15:19:55

Same as alchemilla for me.
