Planning ahead - C*******s lunch in Edinburgh

It has been brought to my attention (Katek nudged me) that if we want to meet up for a Christmas December lunch, we need to start booking somewhere soon - before all the works outings fill up the restaurants.

If anyone is interested, could you do as we have done before - let me know the days when you CAN'T come, and I will juggle dates around to try to find one that suits everyone - or suits as many as possible - and get an estimate of numbers. The numbers will fluctuate wildly between now and then, of course.

I think the ROSL would be a good venue - do you agree? Central, easy to get to, and they usually do us well.

Still planning to come but foot treatment will be in late November so may have to cry off if it's sore. Is that ok?

Marelli Mon 24-Oct-16 19:45:57

Hope you'll be able to make it, Tegan - seems ages since we last met up.

Elegran Mon 24-Oct-16 20:26:52

Cry off if you need to, Tegan but I hope you don't have to. Perhaps a taxi from Waverley? There will be several people arriving there so perhaps you could share.

The ROSL have sent me a link to a survey about what I think of them. I have filled it in, and then I thought I would put the link on here in case anyone else feels the urge to respond.

It seems to assume that I stayed in the accommodation, which I never have, it must be sent to overnight guests, but I could answer "don't know enough to comment" where accommodation is mentioned.

I've got my train tickets booked!!

BiNtHeReDuNiT14 Thu 27-Oct-16 19:50:18

Tried the link Elegran but it comes up ' You have already completed this survey'

Elegran Thu 27-Oct-16 20:26:36

It must have some way of stopping me from doing it twice - I just copied and pasted the page that it took me to. Sorry, BiNtHeReDuNiT14 I don't how to alter it.

Hi. Just checking the Secret Santa situation! Are we or aren't we?
Off to check out the new John Lewis megastore in Leeds and buy a sparkly outfit for the GN get-together.

Sorry elegran and everyone else but I won't manage to meet up for the December lunch I have been offered a weeks assignment and I've accepted. I hope you all have a wonderful time and believe you me I'll be thinking of you all. sad

Elegran Wed 23-Nov-16 10:17:00

That*s a shame, E1 you missed the last one. Never mind, an assignment is a good thing. Maybe you can Skype us or something?
Sorry I didn't answer you, oldgoat I didn't check this thread for a few days and missed your post.

Elegran Wed 23-Nov-16 10:23:14

Aanswer for oldgoat and everyone else - the Secret Santa is on for those who wish to participate (no obligation) Nothing over £5, just a "minding" to open. There will also be a separate box or sack in which anyone who would like to can put a similar small parcel to go to a charity - probably one for adults who won't have any presents at Christmas. They get less donations than children at this time of year, and it is often Mum who misses out. You can do either one or the other or do none or both if you wish. Again no obligation at all.

Elegran Wed 23-Nov-16 10:30:22

I am collecting money (£18.95) ready to pay up. I mean to PM everyone who has not already sent me some, but will add on here that you can either send me a cheque,or do a BACS Let me know and I will send you the BACS details or my home address. Or if neither of these are convenient, give me cash on the day (but that involves an extra bit of complication while all the chat goes on, so is a last resort)

Nearly there - less than a fortnight to go now! I have to tell them final numbers by Monday. Is there anyone whose name is not on the list who would like to be added? Still a few more days.

Katek Wed 23-Nov-16 10:31:16

When do you want payment for our lunch elegran?

Katek Wed 23-Nov-16 10:32:21

Oops, crossed posts. Will send by BACS later today.

Elegran Wed 23-Nov-16 10:32:26

For "less" a couple of posts up read "fewer" I wouldn't like to shock the Pedants' Corner posters.

Elegran Wed 23-Nov-16 10:33:12

The thread is suddenly busy! Thanks Katek

EllenT Wed 23-Nov-16 11:31:43

Elegran Wed 23-Nov-16 11:54:45

Elegran Wed 23-Nov-16 12:09:13

Thanks again, Katek

Elegran Thu 24-Nov-16 16:09:19

I have PMed everyone except Tegan, who is unable to receive PMs. It may be that she is getting her feet fixed, in which case she may not be there on 5th Dec.
Are you reading this, Tegan?

hildajenniJ Thu 24-Nov-16 18:06:41

Hope it's not too late to cancel. I have liads of commitments that week. Also we are going to Glasgow the following week to visit the DGC. I don't think Waitrose would look kindly upon their cleaning lady going missing so often. Sorry once again.

Elegran Thu 24-Nov-16 20:16:14

A shame you'll miss it, hilda. Enjoy your Christmas and we'll see you in 2017.

Elegran Mon 28-Nov-16 20:22:31

I've checked with ROSL and the menu and price are unchanged.
There will be ten of us - names below. If I have missed anyone out, let me know, and there is still time to add in anyone new, if we are quick.
