I shan't mention the dreaded C**-word yet, as September is only partway through, but we do need to start planning and booking if we want to meet up in December. The sooner we book the more likely we are to get a table.

Possible dates - 11th to 20th December, with the 14th or 15th mentioned.
Possible venue - ROSL, Princes Street.
Likely format - lunchtime eating and drinking, and talking. It is just possible that a splinter group may also go to see a show in the afternoon, if there is one that appeals.
Numbers - So far six people are interested. ( Katek Elizabeth1 Jane10 EllenT Marelli Me )

Please add your name if you are interested, and say which date(s) you would prefer.

Aye, right, soop!

If you wear your party skirt I might wear my tartan dress...

soop Sun 29-Oct-17 12:21:11

Baggs me old fruit, you are lithe and lovely. Get practising for the next Olympics!

soop Sun 29-Oct-17 12:20:00

Elegran I'll get said skirt out of the wardrobe where it's been lurking and wishing it could have an airing. I'd better check that I can still fit into it. If not hmm

Baggs Sun 29-Oct-17 12:18:06

Did yous all know that there's a push to make pole dancing an Olympic sport? Well, a sport anyhow, like synchronised swimming and floor gymnastics.

soop Sun 29-Oct-17 12:18:02

Elegran I second oldgoat's suggestion. I've a funny feeling that there may be rather a raucous rumpus when us lot gather together. Naturally, I'll be good as gold. wink

soop Sun 29-Oct-17 12:14:16

Marydoll I've spluttered me coffee all over the place. Oh lord! We've a good reasonable reputation in these 'ere parts. Tell you what...there's a decent beach for camping on. Good views. Otter sometimes pays a visit. Pod of dolphin swam by about two years ago. Only trouble is - there be no booze, no willing fellas (mine's spoken for) and apart from the sound of the sea - no ear-splitting music. So, my advice to the Argy lot is...stay safe in the Caff. There, at least, is a decent pole for laydees to cavort on. There be no poles on the beach. Rocks and pebbles a plenty. No poles!

oldgoat Sat 28-Oct-17 19:14:56

So much looking forward to meeting you all!

Marydoll Sat 28-Oct-17 19:06:39

Don't worry about the "Argy lot" We are very adaptable and versatile, we can do "refined" at a push. Anyway, the really rough Argies are having their own party at another venue.
I believe there is an "empty" up in Argyll somewhere. The householder and her man, complete with sporran are off to Edinburgh for a few days. wink
Big Jim and Wee Wullie are bringing the restraints, just in case we get out of hand.

oldgoat Sat 28-Oct-17 19:01:15

Elegran The room we had for last year's Christmas get-together was good. Would it be possible to have that one again, do you think? It's nice to be able to get up and circulate a bit which is difficult in a restaurant.
Also, I believe there's some of that rough lot from the Argy planning to come
soop If you are wearing your party skirt, so am I (well, it might have to be last year's frock but I'm sure nobody will recognise it!)

Elegran Sat 28-Oct-17 17:56:18

I look forward to seeing it, Soop and seeing you in it, too.

soop Sat 28-Oct-17 17:47:17

Elegran May I wear my party skirt? It's long and has hung in my wardrobe with nowhere to go for yonks. Even though we'll be travelling by bus, I would rather wear something a little OTT than my everyday clobber.

Marydoll Sat 28-Oct-17 14:45:28

Sounds very ominous grin

Elegran Sat 28-Oct-17 14:29:07

I was wondering what anyone else had in mind, Jane.

Jane10 Sat 28-Oct-17 13:52:22

'Activity' Elegran? What did you have in mind?

Elegran Sat 28-Oct-17 13:36:47

I turn my back on you lot for a few days and when I return you are plotting to get us evicted from the douce doors of the ROSL!

I came back to ask what form you wanted the meetup to take? (I don't know why I ask - clearly you'd like it to be a drunken rave in fancy dress) In the past we have had all sorts, from refained dining through talks about beavers and puddling about with strawberries to baiting bossy waitresses.

We will not be thrown out as soon as our plates are empty, but I am not sure whether we will have a private room or be in the restaurant. If a private room (should I see if we can get that?) there is room for more "activity" than in front of other unsuspecting diners.

Marydoll Tue 24-Oct-17 16:53:12

That's great Katek, I'll wear the one which lights up when I make an entrance anywhere. Do you think the Elf Boots, may be overdoing it? I don't want to lower the tone. It's so difficult to be refined, when you spend so much of the time in the Argy.

Katek Tue 24-Oct-17 16:45:45

Tsk tsk marydoll.....reindeer hairbands are the only accepted headwear smile

Jane10 Tue 24-Oct-17 16:37:30

I find a burka works well. I can just have my cosy nightie and slippers under it and no one any wiser. Lovely! Might decorate it with tinsel though.

Marydoll Tue 24-Oct-17 14:45:39

I was wondering, should I wear a hat or perhaps a fascinator?
I don't want to let everyone down.

soop Tue 24-Oct-17 13:25:03

A warning to be posted on Trip Advisor. ^The Argy Caff is highly recommended for those who make do with sawdust on the floor, shabby furnishings, lousy grub and service with a scowl.
The ROSL, on the other hand, is for the most discerning of clientele - those familiar with what knife to use and how to hold a china tea cup whilst dunking the biscuit and mind their p's & q's^. wink

Jangran99 Tue 24-Oct-17 08:23:25

Here's another wee Weegie but I have no fur coat and I keep the other accoutrements well covered. Hope this doesn't disbar me from the jollifications! Regarding brown/ tomato sauce I'll be in Costco today and couldpinch liberate some of those wee sachets from their very salubrious lunching area ( if ROSL allow bringing one's own food)

Marydoll Mon 23-Oct-17 22:28:35

I may be a wee Weegie, but despite what "Lemongrove* says, I can do "refined". When in Edinburgh I believe there is a saying, something about wearing fur coats, so I've been getting into role.
Also I have been having brown sauce instead of tomato ketchup on my chips.
Compared to the Argy, ROSL seems very upmarket and I was a tad worried that the bouncers wouldn't let me in. However, I have discovered that Big Jim's brother, Wee Wullie, is the bouncer, so no problem there.
With my refinement and Soop and co' s experience on the charabanc it should be a riot a lovely afternoon.

lemongrove Mon 23-Oct-17 21:00:32

Yes, we can lay on a buffet for you ( literally in Marydolls case when she has had a few)?
For a small fee, we can provide all your eating and drinking needs, and you should only end up in A & E for one night if you imbibe carefully.Although this is Scotland right, we can also supply Irn-Bru for the drivers among you.?

Marydoll Mon 23-Oct-17 19:12:47

I'm quite happy to set up the Argy for the meet up, it's become a bit quiet recently.
With Soop's "delicious" Eton mess, the ferret scratchings and the home made hooch, we will have a ball.....And there may be entertainment available.

soop Mon 23-Oct-17 17:43:08

Titters!
