How about meeting round about 25th Jan for a so-called Burns lunch? (any excuse to eat drink and be merry) That would give those who couldn't make today's Christmas bash another chance.

Perfect for me, thanks Elegran.

Katek Fri 15-Dec-17 13:58:32

Suits me perfectly!

Elegran Fri 15-Dec-17 13:00:03

It always amazes me how fast a consensus can be reached for a dozen people to meet on a certain day in a certain place!

Jane10 Fri 15-Dec-17 12:00:00

The top of your head is fine by me!

Elegran Fri 15-Dec-17 11:05:19

From the top of my head, Friday 26th Jan could be a good day.

Katek Fri 15-Dec-17 09:11:58

Any of those dates suit me although I would prefer a weekday if possible. I’ll go with the flow though.

baubles Thu 14-Dec-17 22:41:29

Any of those dates would suit me Elegran.

oldgoat Thu 14-Dec-17 22:05:20

Please, may I join you all again Elegran ? The 26th would be good for me.

Elegran Thu 14-Dec-17 18:22:33

So 23,24, and 25 Jan are out, and so are 30 and 31 Jan.

At the end of Jan that leaves us with:-
Sat 20
Sun 21
Mon 22
Fri 26
Sat 27
Sun 28
Mon 29

then into February.

Marydoll Thu 14-Dec-17 17:00:15

I've just remembered, Weds 24th Jan is out for me. I'm supposed to organise another lunch that day.

Marydoll Thu 14-Dec-17 14:19:08

I could play the recorder...badly

oldgoat Thu 14-Dec-17 14:18:17

Any volunteers to pipe in the haggis?

Marydoll Thu 14-Dec-17 13:37:09

The ROSL is so central, I'm happy to go there.

Jane10 Thu 14-Dec-17 13:33:29

We don't need a formal dinner. I wonder if their usual lunch menu would include things like broth or haggis etc? We could do the Rabbie Burns stuff between courses?
My suspicion is that places might be keen for our business in bleak January.

Katek Thu 14-Dec-17 11:47:02

I like the ROSL as well-nice room and central location for train travellers. I’ve no date restrictions so whenever suits everybody else is fine.

Elegran Thu 14-Dec-17 11:23:24

Anyway, I think that is for members only.

Elegran Thu 14-Dec-17 11:21:34

Well, they have a black tie dinner for £40 on 27th Jan. That wasn't quite what I had in mind, more a lunch for half that or less.

Elegran Thu 14-Dec-17 11:18:36

I think it does, or at least it has done in the past. I wonder whether their website has anything about it, must have a look.

Jane10 Thu 14-Dec-17 11:10:06

Sorry I really can't volunteer our place. There just isn't the space.
Would ROSL not do a Burns type menu? It's such a good venue.

Elegran Thu 14-Dec-17 10:45:29

That is a good instant reaction - ten potentials. Anyone with any restrictions on dates tell me as soon as you can, also ideas on venues. Does anyone have enough space to host it at home? That really was lovely when we each brought something and all jammed into my table to eat.

Elizabeth1 Thu 14-Dec-17 08:09:00

Would love to join in however my most handsome English grandson wants to visit for a Burns celebration and I’m unsure of when he will be visiting. Once I hear from him I’ll let you know. I always remember the Burns night held at Elegran’s it was a lovey experience meeting up for the first time. I’ve never peeled a turnip since. Good old microwave. smile

cascats Thu 14-Dec-17 00:03:29

Definately me please, smile

Jangran99 Wed 13-Dec-17 23:02:33

Count me in!

Baggs Wed 13-Dec-17 22:09:39

I'll come.

Marelli Wed 13-Dec-17 21:07:43

Count me in, too, please - and my pal Bellasgran/Ina. It may be that DH has had his date for operation by then, in which case I won’t be able to come, though.
