I know one or two of you were quite friendly with Anya but I can't seem to send a PM to her. If you could ask her if I could have her email address and then let me have it, I would be most grateful. We both have grandsons of the same age , the same name and with the same problem and I just wanted to hear about how hers was getting on. Thanks if you can help

I agree too, kitty. She used her very ready wit to pop a lot of inflated egos, so made enemies. We could do with her back.

kittylester Thu 05-Jul-18 09:11:34

Quite merlot!

Greenfinch Thu 05-Jul-18 09:05:06

I second lemongrove
Over 100 postings and I still haven't found Anya. sad
If you are back,I would love to hear from you.

jingl was set up by those who knew she was on borrowed time with HQ. Like poking a hornets' nest. The old guard at HQ (can't remember names) had moved on to pastures new and one or two replacements are obviously not of a 'live and let live' mentality.

*Jingl's attempts to sneak back in provoked a reaction similar to a fox in a hen run. Oh! The outrage!

The new bland, sanitised Gransnet is the result

kittylester Thu 05-Jul-18 08:49:41

And your point is?

sodapop Thu 05-Jul-18 08:47:36

Here we go, here we go, yet again .

Blinko Thu 05-Jul-18 08:36:07

I don't think any of us actually understood what crime Jingles was guilty of, in the eyes of GNHQ. I agree with KittyLester on that one.

kittylester Thu 05-Jul-18 08:31:42

Good post lemon.

jings was much less abrasive than lots of posters and I never really understood her crime.

I hope that if Ana and Anya are reading this thread, they will consider returning to GN, anyway, if you both are then I would like to say hello to you, and hope that everything is ok in your lives.
Ana I miss doing our four Yorkshiremen routine! grin

Jalima1108 Wed 04-Jul-18 23:16:56

She also kept referring to her faith, the bible and 'keeping to the rules' to the extent that she regularly consulted GNHQ about whether or not rules had been broken!
Ah! enlightenment smile

merlotgran Wed 04-Jul-18 23:16:09

Ana said she was taking a break some time ago. I haven't heard from her since. I miss her too.

Maggiemaybe Wed 04-Jul-18 23:13:10

Granjura’s still around, purpledaffodil, under a different, but eminently guessable name! Try the Brexit threads. wink

I wish jingl was, but doubt she’ll be back after all this time. GN’s a much poorer place without her.

And I’m another who misses Anya and Ana - if they’re about with new identities I haven’t twigged!

Purpledaffodil Wed 04-Jul-18 21:38:18

I have a particular reason for remembering Greatnan as it was the publicity about the fact that she was missing and the help her online friends gave which led me to GN. I seem to remember Granjura was important in the search but she too seems to have disappeared. ?

merlotgran Wed 04-Jul-18 21:28:07

I'm afraid there would be some who would delight in 'outing' jingl if she attempted to sneak back in again. Unless GNHQ lifts the ban I doubt she'll bother.

NfkDumpling Wed 04-Jul-18 21:21:31

I miss Jings too and keep looking for clues!

NanKate Wed 04-Jul-18 19:06:32

I still miss Jinglebells has she got another incarnation on GN do you think ?

grannyactivist Wed 04-Jul-18 12:36:24

Yes mcem that particular person created a great deal of consternation for me and was the reason I took a break from GN for a short while.
On the other hand I was very fond of Greatnan and always appreciated, and was a little in awe of, her forthrightness.

downtoearth Wed 04-Jul-18 09:52:00

I remember greatnan with great fondness, and after a break from GN was shocked to find out of her untimely death, although very forthright she showed compassion to those who needed it,I also had an invitation to spend some time at her home, sadly I was never able to take her up on it

Iam64 Wed 04-Jul-18 09:08:12

Greatnan was one of the first on line friends I made on gransnet. Her posts were always well informed and argued. She was a very interesting member of gransnet and her input remains greatly missed.

Yes s2B was one incarnation - unlike Greatnan, I fear her note keeping did have sinister and highly emotive connotations.

kittylester Tue 03-Jul-18 17:54:33

They are greenfinch!

I'd like to point out that I was not being rude about Greatnan - just repeating what she had said on a thread.

I made no implication that she kept a 'dossier' (which sounds highly sinister and highly emotive) just that she kept a note of relevant bits of information. And she told us!

winterwhite Tue 03-Jul-18 17:46:18

I’m fairly new, too, but I remember some of these names and had noticed their disappearance. It’s a pity if GN has changed for the worse.

annodomini Tue 03-Jul-18 16:42:06

It's no secret that Greatnan was a dear friend of mine whom I visited twice in her apartment in the Alps and I continue to mourn her very untimely death. I never saw her with a notebook and if she did keep track of some members it would be with the intention of PM-ing them to offer advice or sympathise with situations they had discussed on line.

Fennel Tue 03-Jul-18 16:32:56

Well remembered downtoearth.
She used to get on my nerves.

Greenfinch Tue 03-Jul-18 16:20:10

But I thought she was banned !

mcem Tue 03-Jul-18 16:08:27

I believe that may have been one of the 'incarnations'!
