We lived in the Gers for 16 years and have recently returned to the UK.

Yes in many ways we certainly are. Close to GVA airport for one thing, making flights within Europe easy. We are also in Swizzle quite often but oh the prices! Here in our local Lidl not long ago, aubergines were on special offer at 99c per kg. Same week in Migros [big supermarket chain there] also on special offer at CHF4.99 per kg. Prices are horrendous but then of course the very high salaries and low taxes compensate. Most of our neighbours are "frontaliers" so have the best of both worlds. We only came here after retirement, but are definitely not complaining!
