I am moving to Gosforth in September from Bucks. I don’t know anyone in that region or even vaguely near! So a little worried. I enjoy the theatre music swimming walking flower arranging and antiques. Happy to volunteer having worked in a charity shop for quite a few years. Also interested in improving my Spanish. Any ideas ladies?

Was just going to post about meet up/☕ in the Newcastle area when I saw your post. I live 3 miles out side of Newcastle. Your charity shop sounds like a g good start.
Theatre Royal in Newcastle is brilliant, great varied programme. PM me after you move if you like.

Hello Flamenco
I live near Newcastle & would be happy to meet up at some point, though I’m going to be away in the Autumn.
One place that might interest you is the Tyneside Cinema, one of the many jewels in the North-East’s crown.

Good luck with your move. The northeast is a great place to live. smile

Sorry no ideas for voluntary work, but Newcastle is a wonderful city. I especially like the river area, with the 7 bridges.
Two of my aunties lived in Gosforth , but I haven't been there recently. The Town Moor is nearby.
We live just south of the Tyne now, but easy access to Newcastle.
Excellent public transport and short journey to the coast.
And I've just remembered - eldest daughter did teacher training in Newcastle and went to classes for flamenco dancing somewhere in town.
As to language, you might need lessons in Geordie as well as Spanish. smile.

I live 15 miles from the toon. Gosforth is a nice suburb. Eldon square has a variety of shops but the metro centre is one of the largest shopping centre in europe catch a bus from eldon square. The markets are good too very atmospheric. Grainger market dates from middle aged. As for boozing newcastle is the best apparently the bigg market excells. Lots of good restauants and cafes in newcastle. Enough i will be writing a guide book soon

It's strange, I was looking for an opportunity to say "Aam gannin doon the toon."
Or getting on the bus with someone "two to toon".

My son lives in Heaton - you need to be a confident driver but there’s plenty of public transport.
