Minimeet in St Andrews

As Katek can't get to the Edinburgh lunch in September, we thought we would do a minimeet in St Andrews. Mini because any more than six would be a crowd in the Tailend, and also because a large group can make it difficult to catch all the conversation. Oldgoat and Cascats had both said in January, after the Burns do, that they would love to go again to the Tailend.

Are there two more who would like to join us? Fifers? Old Stan Drew inmates? 20th September or 11th October (both Thursdays) seem the likely dates.

Thanks to all for making me so welcome. It was lovely to see old friends and meet new ones. As the sun came out, I took the opportunity to go down to the beach, then home via the East Fife Coastal Trail, stopping for a break in Pittenweem.

A memorable day of Freedom for me, back to the grind tomorrow.

It was a lovely meet up yesterday and it was great to see you again, Granny23. Next one will be a 'wee afternoon tea' (pinkies raised) at our little local tearoom here in the village.

That’s me just home from St Andrews-stopped off on way home to visit my daughter. Was lovely to see familiar faces and a new one (to me) - hope you all enjoyed your lunch and good craic as much as I did. Still stuffed!

cascats Thu 11-Oct-18 18:20:35

Another very enjoyable meet, thanks to Elegran for the idea and organising. smile

Elegran Thu 11-Oct-18 18:11:54

And some good chat. Nice to see everyone again, and to meet Granny23 again (substituting for Oldgoat)

Fish and chips, salted caramel ice cream with a chocolate brownie - I’m still full up. Thank you Elegran for arranging this lovely afternoon.

oldgoat Thu 11-Oct-18 15:07:38

Well, I'm hopping mad because the whole point of our trip to Scotland was to travel on 'The Waverley' paddle steamer and, guess what? It's been cancelled!

Elizabeth1 Thu 11-Oct-18 07:28:03

Sorry you can’t make it today oldgoat another time. sad enjoy your holidays. sunshine

Brunette10 Thu 11-Oct-18 07:20:41

Hope your meet in St.Andrews went well and had lots to chat about! St.Andrews is lovely place and did you get the weather or not! - it was beautiful!

oldgoat Thu 11-Oct-18 07:07:23

Thanks marelli. I'm looking forward to our trip to Scotland but will be packing the rainwear!!!
Hope it stays fine for you in St.Andrews - unlike the previous meet-up.

Marelli Thu 11-Oct-18 07:04:02

Sorry we won't be seeing you today, Oldgoat, but look forward to meeting up again at Xmas. Have a lovely holiday. ?

Marydoll Thu 11-Oct-18 06:59:17

I hope you all have a great meet up and the rain stays off.

oldgoat Wed 10-Oct-18 23:52:43

Hope you have a lovely meet-up in St.Andrews. Sorry I can't join you but I will be coming up in December. Just one thing: please don't post me any smokies. We are going to be away for a few days and they would be a bit high by the time we arrived home!

cascats Sun 07-Oct-18 12:00:25

Sorry you are not going to make it oldgoat, was looking forward to hearing of your latest projects. Hopefully see you at Christmas meet.
Travel safely and enjoy your holiday.

Katek Sun 07-Oct-18 11:42:48

So sorry you won’t be there oldgoat-hope you’re coming to the Cmas do.

The rain has started......abs chucking it down up here. Hope it’s not an omen for Thursday!!

Elegran Fri 05-Oct-18 13:06:00

That's a shame, Oldgoat. We'll just have to do it again when you can be there. Shall we get them to post you a couple of smokies? (vision of postman wearing gasmask)

oldgoat Fri 05-Oct-18 09:47:37

I'm really sorry Elegran but I'm not going to be able to join you for the Fish and Chip Treat after all. I'm inundated with urgent jobs to finish before OH and I travel to Scotland on Saturday for our Steam and Sail holiday.

Sorry to miss the trip to St.Andrews and see you all again. Have a great day and hope you don't get wild weather on Thursday.

Elegran Tue 25-Sept-18 15:57:17

Catch your own fish?

cascats Mon 24-Sept-18 22:17:48

Well have seriously thought of going back to Aquarobics, so maybe this would be a good time to practice, before lunch of course. Will bring my flippers.

Marydoll Mon 24-Sept-18 16:37:20

envy I'm so jealous reading this. We had a lovely meal in the Tailend during the summer.
You never know, the sun may shine!

Elegran Mon 24-Sept-18 16:17:49

Mine gets in later than that.

oldgoat Mon 24-Sept-18 14:43:42

I'm catching the train which arrives at Leuchars at 12.05. Is anybody else arriving around then who would like to share a taxi, please?

Katek Mon 24-Sept-18 14:05:32

Hahaha! Small enough space without 7 GNetters wearing inflated life jackets! We’d never get out of the door...........

Elegran Mon 24-Sept-18 12:43:04

The inflatable life raft is packed into my rucksack. BYOL (Bring Your Own Lifejacket, and don't test the inflation in the restaurant)

Katek Mon 24-Sept-18 12:29:15

Cap’n Birdseye here......oilskins are at the ready! Looking forward to a good catchup with everyone!????
