Who is interested and which days are impossible for you? I feel a bit of date elimination coming on, which will probably end up with the conclusion that you can't please all of the people all of the time. Ideas, venues, etc welcomed.

Final check - Wednesday 12th December at the Old Waverley, on Princes Street approximately opposite the entrance to Waverley station. I don't think we set a time, so does 1 pm suit everyone's travel arrangements? If you would prefer another time, tell me soon and I will contact them.

Katek Thu 06-Dec-18 10:05:26

Have emerged briefly from pantoland to post! How many of us are having lunch next week?

Marelli Wed 05-Dec-18 20:12:36

Ah... I see, Elegran . Just read through the 'Infiltrators' thread. How lovely it would be to have a swing at one with Jane10's handbag.
Or I could have a kick at one with my blasted walking boots, which I'm still having to wear due to broken wee toe. ??

Marydoll Wed 05-Dec-18 18:52:54

I'm a definite, booked a hotel, to avoid the faff of taking three hours to get home. smile
I'm looking forward to it.

Elegran Wed 05-Dec-18 18:34:45

Yes, Marelli a whole chapter of weird posts and tasteless infiltrators. Try the "Infiltrators" thread. It may or may not make sense.

No infiltrators are signed up for the meetup next week. So far.

Marelli Wed 05-Dec-18 17:57:44

Have I missed something ??

Jane10 Wed 05-Dec-18 17:45:32

Och. I'd like to see just how weedy and pathetic they really are. Oh well we'll just have to make our own entertainment - we invariably do and have a great time doing it.

Elegran Wed 05-Dec-18 17:31:50

I can't imagine any of the imposters actually appearing for a meet-up - they would blow their cover, and they'd have to pay their share of the bill - that will keep them away.

Elegran Wed 05-Dec-18 17:30:00

Yes, still on as far as I know. No more cancellations or last-minute additions that I know of.

Jane10 Wed 05-Dec-18 16:44:43

Are we still on for next week? I wonder if any of the nasty new imposter Grans will turn up? If so I'll be ready with my trusty brick in my handbag!

Elegran Wed 31-Oct-18 14:14:24

We'll see you next year, then, Rosalee. Enjoy Leicester!

rosalee Wed 31-Oct-18 13:27:41

Hi everyone, Im really sorry but am going to have to forego my first ever meet-up for xmas lunch. My son has just sorted out dates for me to come down to Leicester for a pre-xmas visit and they clash. But I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you in the New Year

Marydoll Tue 09-Oct-18 20:19:07

Not everyone likes Facebook, myself included, so GN is a much better way of having a chat with online friends.

Elegran Tue 09-Oct-18 11:25:47

A few years ago, Granet started up Local Gransnet pages, edited by volunteers, for hundreds of places. They maintained them for a couple of years, then shrunk them a good deal. Many voluntary editors lost heart and gave up, There are still some functioning local pages, with editors, but interest in most of them is very low. People prefer to post on the main Gransnet page, where they get to chat with online friends from all over the country (and beyond).

There is a general Gransnet Facebook page. Have a look at that.

rosalee Tue 09-Oct-18 11:04:43

hi, I've noticed that there is a Facebook group for Gransnet Edinburgh but no-one's posted for a couple of years. Did you decide there wasn't enough interest or maybe that some people dont do Facebook so it wouldnt be fair on them? Just interested as most of my day-to-day info on whats happening locally I find out thru facebook group posts

Elegran Wed 03-Oct-18 21:15:44

That's a shame, Jangran Hope you enjoy your lunch as much as we will enjoy ours.

Jangran99 Wed 03-Oct-18 18:22:47

sad Sorry, but I already have a lunch date on the 12th so have a lovely meet and I'll hope the next one is soon!

Elegran Wed 03-Oct-18 16:29:51

It'll be great to meet you, Rosalee. If you click on "Watch this thread" (in yellow at the top) or choose "I'm on" to view, you will be able to find the thread much more easily.
