The clue is in the title. GN can't change the title of the thread called just 'Burns'.
Let me know if anyone is interested in coming along. It's planned for the Old Waverley Hotel again due to its convenient location.
So far there's me and cascats...

And me too please jane

Marydoll Fri 04-Jan-19 16:29:51

Me please, thanks for organising, Jane

Elizabeth1 Fri 04-Jan-19 17:02:11

Sorry Jane10 I’m in Newcastle working that fortnight otherwise I could have been there.

I got a voucher from the Old Waverley for getting a piece of plastic like a bristle in my pudding the last time we were there. I don’t suppose that would happen too often their meals are usually delicious.

Have a lovely time everyone.

Brunette10 Fri 04-Jan-19 17:14:34

Yes that would be nice as long as I'm not expected to recite anything smile put my name down please - Thank you.

Jane10 Fri 04-Jan-19 19:09:41

It's a pity you can't make it Elizabeth1. We'll have to look out for pieces of plastic in our meals!

Jangran99 Fri 04-Jan-19 20:23:23

Count me in please!

Marelli Fri 04-Jan-19 21:40:39

Hi
yes, I would love to come along too. Be nice to make some new friends. What time is it at ?

Grammaretto Sat 05-Jan-19 00:14:52

I think I am able to come this time as long as they do veggie haggis and no speeches are involved.
Hooray!
Thanks for organising Jane10 but sorry Elizabeth1 can't be there.

Excellent! I'll get back to the hotel today and request 1ish? That seems a reasonable time.
I've spoken to them several times (the concept of a Burns lunch seemed to flummox them) and was put through to the Polish chef at one point! He assured me that he would put on haggis etc among the usual lunchtime choices so there will be a veggie option as well as other choices for those not too keen on haggis. I'll request cock- a-leekie soup though.
It's a public dining room so I doubt we can have our usual singalong. If anyone is inspired I expect we might enjoy a poem. We can have a think about it nearer the time.
It'll be lovely to welcome a new Gran Lindey as well as all the 'weel kent' faces.
Elegran can you really not make it this year?

Elegran Sat 05-Jan-19 09:09:15

Not on the 25th, Jane, I've an appointment at the Western that afternoon (nothing serious, but need to turn up)

Jane10 Sat 05-Jan-19 09:24:56

Sorry to hear that Elegran. Well if they offer you an earlier appointment by any chance please come. Any others interested are welcome to come too.

weenanni59 Sat 05-Jan-19 09:30:20

Hi , I’m new to this. I’m staying in Edinburgh overnight on the 24 th so I would be able to come and meet you / make new friends if there are any spaces left ?

Jane10 Sat 05-Jan-19 09:55:56

Of course weenanni59. The more the merrier and we're usually a merry band.

weenanni59 Sat 05-Jan-19 10:00:41

Great ! Looking forward to it

Baggs Sat 05-Jan-19 10:39:44

I would come but have a busy day on Kerrera the next day so will have to miss this one. Have fun, everybody!

Jane10 Sat 05-Jan-19 11:21:07

Blimey. I hadn't ever thought of Kerrera as being a busy place!

Lindey Sat 05-Jan-19 22:45:14

Thank you very much for the welcome Jane10. I see from the posts that some of you meet up on a regular basis. That sounds like fun. I'm looking forward to the Burns lunch and might even be persuaded to say a wee poem (not Tam O'Shanter though - that has about 30 verses ha ha!), but mostly meeting all you folks.

Marydoll Sat 05-Jan-19 22:49:24

Nice to see new faces!?

GeminiJen Sun 06-Jan-19 12:57:49

Sorry. Another one here who can't make the date. Already booked up for a Burns Do. Singing for my supper (!)...and can't rearrange sad
Hope you all have a great time wine party

Jane10 Sun 06-Jan-19 14:04:02

Oh well. Next time GeminiJen!

Jane10 Mon 07-Jan-19 13:57:30

Newsflash! The hotel has confirmed the booking for 10 of us ladies for a Burns lunch on Friday 25th January at 1.00pm. There will be their usual lunch menu plus haggis, neeps and tatties. Cockieleekie soup too!
I've said I'll update them on exact numbers nearer the time so if anyone else is interested please let me know.
