Hello, I've just joined. Any other grans in Glasgow who would like to meet for coffee and a chat?

jacq10 Wed 27-Nov-19 23:30:39

Thanks for the heads up Marydoll. It's good to see Glasgow grannies rallying round for a meet-up. I think a date in January will be fine with me provided I'm not snowed in - they say it is going to be a harsh winter and it hasn't been very good so far! I hope your forthcoming trip goes well. It was a year today my DH passed away so I have had family around this last few days - it has been hard but others have it harder so I count my blessings.

Marydoll Thu 28-Nov-19 07:25:16

jacq, good to hear from you, I really enjoyed meeting you at the last meet up.
I'm glad you have had your family around you the last few days. ?

Caroles60 Thu 28-Nov-19 08:17:07

Can we make it a Friday please for January? If it suits everyone, I don’t work Fridays.

Marydoll Thu 28-Nov-19 08:35:05

Friday is a good day for me too! So far......... grin

I have four hosp appts for January already!

Looking forward to meeting you, Caroles60..

Kalu Thu 28-Nov-19 08:57:56

Count me in too please??

Baggs Thu 28-Nov-19 11:10:15

Oh good. It will be lovely to meet you at last, Kalu. Caloo callay, oh frabjious day and all that ?

and everyone else as well, of course ?

GrannyBear Thu 28-Nov-19 12:06:49

Fridays are fine with me too.

Marydoll Thu 28-Nov-19 19:51:21

Bump!

I'm sure there must be more Glasgow grans out there.

In the words of Andy Stewart:
Come in, come in, it's nice tae see ye
How's yersel ye're lookin grand
Tak yer ease we'll try to pleese ye
Man ye're welcome
Here's my hand.......

Hi everyone, gosh things have moved on. Wonder if the Concert Hall Cafe
is big enough ( unless they let us have the auditorium!)
I’m in for a Friday in January and looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones

Esspee Fri 29-Nov-19 07:39:33

Am fae Glesga! but will be sunning myself in the Caribbean for most of January. grin
Perhaps someone who's highly organised could compile a list of Weegies and PM everyone to organise meet ups.

Marydoll Fri 29-Nov-19 08:00:53

Hi Espee, that's what we have done in the past.

However, this time a few new people have added their names to the list and unless people let us know on the thread that they exist, we can't PM them.

I'm sure there are more Weegies, out there who are lurking.
Come on introduce yourself , we are a friendly group!

We can just make it a meet up for coffee, not too expensive.

Esspee, there is no need to rub it in about the Caribbean. grin!!!
I hope you have a great time.

Parsley3 Fri 29-Nov-19 09:29:00

Hi, Marydoll ,please add me to the list of Glasgow grannies. I will do my best to come.

Kalu Fri 29-Nov-19 12:16:45

Hey, Baggs. After so many years, a frabjous meet up with lots of chortling and blethering?

Looking forward to meeting all of you and thankful it’s not in John Lewis otherwise there would be no chance of pulling Marydoll away from her favourite pastime.....shopping?

Kalu Fri 29-Nov-19 12:25:53

jacq10 A very sad day for you on Wednesday I’m sorry to hear.

A meet up with a bunch of Glasgow grannies will hopefully give you a bit of a lift with lots of humour and blethering to join in with. Take care, see you in January. ?

Marydoll Fri 29-Nov-19 12:43:00

Good morning ladies, here is the list of interested Glesca Grannies

Weeanni

Nannabas
BiNtHeReDuNiT14
Firdaus19
Caroles60
Marydoll

Please forgive me if I have missed someone.

Possibilities:
Friday 10th January
Friday 17th January.

Any preferences?

Marydoll Fri 29-Nov-19 12:48:01

I was thinking of starting a new thread for the meet up, once we have agreed on a date.

Once we have sorted that part out, I may check with the Concert Hall cafe, that they can accommodate us.
There are ten of us so far.

GrannyBear Fri 29-Nov-19 15:53:56

Either 10 or 17 January suits me. Thanks Marydoll for taking on the organisation of our Meet-up. If you need any back-up help, just let me know, I’m happy to lend a ‘virtual’ or ‘real’ hand!!

weenanni59 Fri 29-Nov-19 22:11:21

Hi , this is exciting!
The 17 th is better for me but I could do the 10 th if I have a good amount of notice xx

Marydoll Fri 29-Nov-19 22:18:21

The sooner we get the dates sorted, the better.

I would prefer 17th January, but could manage 10th at a push.

Now we just need the others to say what their preference is.

firdaus19 Sat 30-Nov-19 07:07:48

OK for both.

Caroles60 Sat 30-Nov-19 11:01:46

Thanks for organising this Marydoll

I am excited to meet you all. I have no plans for either of the dates.

Can I confess?... I am not actually a granny....yet. I have been asking for years but being ignored, think my four kids are having too much fun.

I have become newly single, moved house and looking to keep as busy and live a full life as possible until grandchildren come along.

I hope I am still allow to join the group? I do love hearing about other people grandchildren. [?]

Kalu Sat 30-Nov-19 12:13:57

You will be very welcome Caroles60

Keep on being busy and good luck for the future. Carpe Diem!

17th would suit me better but can hopefully shuffle things around to do the 10th

Jangran99 Sat 30-Nov-19 14:57:28

The 17th is better for me but I can do the 10th if need be. Starting a new thread is a good idea Marydoll. I’ll leave that up to you when you are dragged back from the Big A?????and maybe ?

baubles Tue 03-Dec-19 10:14:47

Put me on the list please Marydoll. I’ll do my best to get there.
