So many names that we’ve never seen before 🤔 Let me think.

CHARLIE501 Wed 18-Mar-26 20:56:14

Hiya, I was there! (Margaret Goulden). Mum died in 2021.

Starting to meet up with some from school days.....

CHARLIE501 Wed 18-Mar-26 20:53:09

Hiya, I remember you well and the others I think. I seem to remember going out with you the night before my 16th birthday and getting drunk ........ my memory is a bit dodgy though! Maggie (Margaret Goulden)

Stumbled across this website as I recently read an article (BBC and Daily Mail) regarding asbestos exposure relating to a PE teacher at St Teresa's -Mrs Julia Browne. Very sad. I just about remember Mrs Browne. You mentioned a teacher Mrs Goulden - again vague memory but I believe her daughter Margaret was in my year. I attended St Theresa's from 1971 - 1976. Hello to anyone who remembers. My name is Caroline. Sister Josephine and Sister Dympha - lasting influences.

I loved Sister Peter she was my favourite teacher.. Biology was incredible with her. Remember the woods and St Bernadette grotto.
Sister Teresa was headmistress. Was there from about 1955 to 1959..
Wish I could remember the girls names in my class. My nickname is Kitty but think the nuns caled me Catherine. Catherine Hide..older sister by five years Elizabeth, younger sister by two years Nicia. Anyone out there remember us ???

BlueBelle Mon 22-Apr-24 18:04:08

Chrys Mon 22-Apr-24 12:28:31

My name was Chrysanta Foster and I attended St Teresa's Convent between 1970 and 1976. My form teacher throughout was Mrs Goulden. My friends still are Daniela, Monica and Amanda, Maria. Does anyone remember us? Sister Cyril was our Head Teacher.

Without spoiling the thread, I agree, certainly, quite naive and foolish to give full names.
No matter how much we emphasis the pitfalls of giving full names on a PUBLIC forum, people continue to do so.

Not everyone reading these posts is an innocent old lady or gentleman.
Quite a few on here have been approached by scammers by PM in the past.

welbeck Sat 11-Feb-23 23:57:12

this is not really what meet-ups is about.
so you might do better to move it to chat section.
ask GN HQ, they'll move it.
as to revealing actual names on open forum, i think it is unwise. such a lot of ID fraud around.
why not stick to user-names on here; then eg. bigmouse can private message to tessy terror, and reveal themselves as old girls susan box and mary moore.

I have no problem with my name being on a public forum. I wouldn't, however, include anyone else's. Happy to delete the message and the photo if you don't think it is appropriate.

Hi, Jane Pamenter here. I think I started at the convent around 1959/60. I was possibly there for about five years. (My parents moved me to Mary Help of Christians in Chertsey when the convent changed its status - can't find any info as to exactly when that was).
I have three 'memories' from my time there:
1. The aviary full of budgies.
2. The woods where we went at lunchtime. There was a 'shop' where you could 'buy' things to build little dens around the foot of the trees.
3. Learning to play the... dulcimer??!! I recall learning a song from Gilbert and Sullivan, I think it was from The Mikado and I think it was The Lord High Executioner!! (Did I dream this last one?!)
I'm enclosing a photo of the 1961 school play, of which I have no recollection but I can name a few faces...
(Is there a chat set up for this thread?)
