Any ideas for a venue? A spring walk in the Botanics plus lunch in their restaurant?

Marydoll Thu 07-Mar-19 11:37:33

Sorry, I will not make it for ten. If its a problem , I can come another time.

baubles Thu 07-Mar-19 11:54:01

I have retired Elegran grin

School holidays and my sister and niece are visiting. Next time hopefully.

Elegran Thu 07-Mar-19 12:21:24

Sorry, Baubles - I've been under the impression that you were one of those young things who are still working.

Elegran Thu 07-Mar-19 12:22:30

MKarydoll What time would you get there? We can adjust to fit your arrival.

Marydoll Thu 07-Mar-19 12:37:58

I could make 11am. Thanks for thinking of me.

Are any of you interested in some felting equipment and a huge bag of wool for it? A friend is clearing her stash and has stuff she bought on a wave of enthusiasm, but has hardly used. I could try to bring it with me. Maybe it could be stored somewhere while we eat, or maybe she could post it to you. I'm asking the people coming to the V&A meetup too, but of course it isn't restricted to them.

Just off to book my train seat to the meet-up. My train arrives at Waverley at 10.20 am. Anyone like to share a taxi to the Botanics?

Elegran Mon 01-Apr-19 17:36:37

So, buses from Princes Street get us to the Botanics at about 10 to 11, so call it 11 am. Where shall we meet? The bus stop is at the Inverleith Row entrance, but the parking could be anywhere, possibly at the Arboretum Place entrance. Which end are our less robust walkers arriving?

If I check the restaurant and book for eight of us at 1.00, we would have 2 hours to walk around. Or would you prefer to eat at 12.30 and split the walking into before and after lunch?

Marydoll Mon 01-Apr-19 21:10:09

Brunette ? and I will share, Old Goat. I should get in about 10.30am.

weenanni59 Mon 01-Apr-19 23:14:42

Hi, I’m also happy to share a taxi from Waverley

Brunette10 Tue 02-Apr-19 07:31:40

Yes that's fine - thank you.

oldgoat Tue 02-Apr-19 08:56:38

Marydoll, Brunette and weenanni I'll meet you all in the seating area at Waverley, near the booking office, around 10.30 then.

weenanni59 Tue 02-Apr-19 09:38:39

Great ! See you all there

Brunette10 Tue 02-Apr-19 09:49:41

No problem, see you there smile

Elegran Tue 02-Apr-19 14:19:21

I don't like to nag, but which gate are we meeting at? (I would prefer the Inverleith one, but I'll go with the flow)

oldgoat Tue 02-Apr-19 15:30:28

Elegran
The Inverleith gateway sounds a good meeting place if that is near where the bus stops. As 4 of us will be arriving in the same taxi we can ask the driver to drop us there too.

Bellasnana Tue 02-Apr-19 15:39:41

Hope you all have a lovely get-together.

If you are passing the herbaceous border, you might spare a thought for my sister and mum whose ashes are interred under a beech tree nearby. There is also a bench dedicated to my sister. She taught at Fettes and loved the Botanics.?

Elegran Tue 02-Apr-19 16:13:04

Bellasnana We will think of you and your sister and mum. What a lovely place to have their ashes.
