We had a lovely time in the Botanics last time we were there. Getting the right gate and restaurant can be difficult to co ordinate. I remember the gardens seemed full of Grans looking for each other! It was fun.

How easy is it to get to the Botanics from the railway station Elegran?

I would love to come along but I would need to check childcare/school runs/work once a date is confirmed.

I’d love to say yes but think I may still by somewhat hors de combat! I’m definitely down at end of May as I have a court case to attend as a witness. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch up with some of you then even if it’s just for tea and cake. Can you put me down as a maybe for this one Elegran and I’ll play it by ear?

So with Marydoll saying a Monday or Wednesday, and Brunette saying Wednesday is ou for her, that means it will be a Monday. Exactly which Monday will become clear soon.

Gillybob From nearish to Waverley, two buses go to the Botanic Garden - a number 27 from The Mound or Hanover Street or a number 8 from North Bridge.

If you search at www.travelinescotland.com/?lang=en putting in to arrive at the Botanics by 11 on a Monday, you will see that the 8.29 from Newcastle gets you into Waverley at 10.20, and sends you to the stop on the Mound for the number 27 ( I would go to Hanover Street myself - not so hilly! ) to arrive at the Botanics at 10 to 11.

If you put into it a 10.00 arrival at the Botanics, it gives you an earlier train and sends you onto North Bridge for the number 8, which gets you to the Botanics at about 10 to 10.

Either way, you need your bus pass or £1.60 ready in your hand - they don't give change!

A Monday is even better for me! This blessed Friday hospital appointment hasn't come yet!

Nor me sadly, I have all the children overnight every Monday and do the school pick ups for the older 3 . Never mind . Thank you anyway Elegran useful info on the buses anyway .

We'll be doing it again in the future, Gillybob - and we'll make sure it isn't on a day when you can't come next time.

Thanks Elegran for doing this. Love the choice of venue too. Currently on active Granny duty in sunny Spain...but will be back home in time for the first of your dates...and could do any of them.
