Good morning all!

It looks like the best date would be Friday 17th January, probably at the Concert Hall Cafe/Bar.

I have used my charm and obtained the phone number of the Catering Manager, to see if we can reserve some tables, as there will probably be twelve of us, if everyone comes.
They don't usually allow reservations, but I will have ago!

I just need to get a hold of him!

Updated list:

I’m so sorry but I’m not able to make it after all. We have a brand new puppy who can’t be left for several hours and DH is off on a jolly to London that day. sad sadsad

How lovely Carole ! Congratulations

Bumpity bump!

Congratulations, Carole.

I will contact the Concert Hall at the end of next week to ask about putting some tables together.
Watch this space!

Merry Christmas Marydoll

My name badge should be... surprise surprise... Carole or Carole S if there is more than one Carole.

Looking forward to meeting everyone, especially as I just heard on Christmas Day that I am going to be a Gran, in August. So excited and looking forward to getting advice from the Glasgow Gransnet group.

Have a brilliant Hogmanay and new year.
Carole S

I have sent you a PM, Nanabas.

Marydoll Sun 22-Dec-19 08:01:50

Good Morning Nanabas, lovely to hear from you. smile
RL means real life, but GN is a virtual escape for some of us and can become very addictive.

At the very top of this page on the right hand side, you will see a box, which says INBOX.
Click on it
Choose New Message
Write the name of the person you wish to send your PM to and Voila!!

I will send you a PM to start you off, just click on it to reply to me.
Looking forward to meeting you. We are a friendly bunch, so no need to be nervous. Just to warn you, we will all probably be talking at once! grin

Nanabas Sun 22-Dec-19 07:40:25

I'm new to posting and navigating the GN site so looking forward to maybe getting some expert advice at the meet up. Does RL mean real name ? and how do I PM you Marydoll

Hope you can make it to the Burns lunch Marydoll
Must get my name on the list. Can't resist those haggis, neeps and tatties.

Marydoll Wed 18-Dec-19 19:10:03

oldgoat it would have been great to see you again.

Central Station and Queen Street Station are both only minutes away from the Concert Hall, which makes it the perfect venue.

Perhaps we will meet up in Edinburgh, if I manage to get to the Burns lunch.

I would have loved to have joined you Marydoll. I even looked up how far the Concert Hall is from Queen St. Station, but sadly I'm already booked on a WI jam-making course in Oxford that day.

Another time, perhaps.

It sounds as though it's going to be great fun.

Marydoll Wed 18-Dec-19 16:45:34

Thanks, Jacq! It sounds ideal.
Hope you made safely up the road!

Feelingmyage55 Wed 18-Dec-19 16:41:01

Soon the watter - haven’t heard that since my mum died.

Had a couple of days visiting Glasgow area with DD and did a quick recce in the Concert Hall near lunch time. Great coffee and cakes and they do a soup (lentil or roasted red pepper and tomato was the choice yesterday) and sandwich combo for £7.50. It is so handy for Buchanan Street bus station.

Marydoll Tue 17-Dec-19 20:26:23

Calling any other Glesca grannies, or anyone else out there who would love to join us, you will be very welcome.

Are there any grans from Doon the Watter, Lanark way, Dunbartonshire, Stirlingshire and places in between?

cascats Tue 17-Dec-19 15:05:50

Sorry Marydoll, changing internet providers just now and old one seems to have taken a dislike to Gransnet! and keeps telling me unsuitable site! Whatever have you lot been doing?
Hopefully you are all considered safe now and it will let me stay on until new provider starts.
But yes please am definately planning to come, looking forward to it very much

Marydoll Tue 17-Dec-19 07:58:18

Still no confirmation from Baubles and Cascats, who I think said they were interested.

I'm beginning to wonder if I imagined that they had shown an interest. confused grin

Baggs Mon 16-Dec-19 12:42:24

I think I have a name badge somewhere. Will look it out. But I'm happy to be called Baggs anyway. That's what soop calls me ?

Marydoll Mon 16-Dec-19 12:36:26

I should have said first names only needed.

Marydoll Mon 16-Dec-19 11:23:57

If you are happy to have your RL name on the badge, please PM me, so that I can get started. I'm a busy lady, as I have the oldest GNetter spreadsheet on the go. (Albeit at a snail's pace ?)
Don't worry if you will be later than one o'clock, we will be there for hours!!!

Grammaretto Mon 16-Dec-19 11:08:48

I may have to stay over. Coastal Connections on 18th is very appealing too. Such a lot going on in your city!!

GrannyBear Mon 16-Dec-19 11:04:25

It will be my first GN meet-up too, Feelingmyage55, and I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone! 12.30-1.00 sounds fine.

Elegran Mon 16-Dec-19 08:35:55

You'll be back for more, feelingmyage !

Feelingmyage55 Sun 15-Dec-19 23:28:22

Counting the sleeps - why not - my first GN meet-up. ?

Marydoll Sun 15-Dec-19 23:22:13

I always enjoy reading the Glasgow meet thread.
It all gets sorted out so efficiently (plus, I love Scotland)
