It seems a long time ago since we last met.Is anyone up for meeting for coffee in September or October? We could go to the usual place (Holme Grange) where the coffee machine is rather noisy (!) or to Squires garden centre just up the road from there. Both places have plenty of parking. Anyway, let me know your thoughts.
If anyone finds driving difficult we could have another/alternative meeting in Reading.

Thanks Penny for scouting out The Hive.

I think I would prefer Squires.
Their chairs are a bit more forgiving!
But if Holme Grange is favourite, that's fine.

Thanks annodomini. Me too. I like the ambiance of the craft centre (apart from the loud coffee machine) but the chairs are more comfortable at Squires and it is nice to look round the garden centre too. There were roadworks when I passed that way yesterday but hopefully they will have gone by June.

I'll be happy with either Squires or Holme Grange.Looking forward to it.

Thanks for being our scout Penny. It sounds like a lovely place to go but not suitable for our meet up as we would all need cars to get there and parking would be a problem. I suggest the that we revert to either Squires or Holme Grange. Please let me know which you would prefer. At least we have found a date suitable for all.

Dear All, the Hive has character and the coffee is good, full of dogs which is great (and noisy!) if you are a dog lover.... fortunately I am! There is limited parking right outside and in a free car park over the road where I got the last empty space this morning. So, nice place but not reliably convenient - I would suggest its not ideal. Both Squires and Holme Grange are fine with me but also open to any suggestions anyone else has. x

Thanks, Greenfinch. 6th June is now in the diary.

Thanks Penny. We await your comments on The Hive before deciding on a venue. I should have said that we are a small and friendly group but would be delighted if others in the area would care to join us. You would be assured of a very warm welcome.

Pennyjw Mon 29-Apr-24 17:13:17

Thursday June 6th is good for me too. I will update you on the Hive parking when I go next week! Take care all.

Greenfinch Mon 29-Apr-24 14:47:29

Thanks all. Shall we tentatively decide on Thursday 6th June? I think that will be OK with Penny. I have sent a PM to wolwol but she has not replied. Does anyone know if she is still a member of Gransnet?

annodomini Mon 29-Apr-24 09:53:55

Thursday 6th and Tuesday 18th are fine for me but I could fit in Wednesday 12th,

Auntieflo Mon 29-Apr-24 08:50:46

Hi Greenfinch, preferably Thursday 6th for me, all being well!

Greenfinch Sun 28-Apr-24 21:17:33

Thanks Deedaa. Are either of these dates suitable for others?

Deedaa Sun 28-Apr-24 20:24:11

Thursday 6th and Tuesday 18th would be best for me.

Greenfinch Sat 27-Apr-24 14:56:34

Shall we think about a date so that we can keep it free. Randomly may I suggest one of the following dates in June.
Thursday 6th
Wednesday 12th
Tuesday 18th

I haven't heard about The Hive but Crowthorne Station isn't far away. I might take a look if I'm passing that way.

Greenfinch Wed 24-Apr-24 19:47:37

That’s very interesting Penny. I have never heard of it . Please report back especially about parking as that is a key factor.

Pennyjw Wed 24-Apr-24 18:50:51

Thanks for the pm Greenfinch, I would love to see you all again. Has anyone tried The Hive near Crowthorne Station? It may not be convenient for everyone but I am going early May and will report back!!

Greenfinch Tue 23-Apr-24 15:50:57

Pennyjw hopes to come and should be able to fit in with any plans. So far we have just excluded Mondays.

Greenfinch Sun 21-Apr-24 10:52:04

annodomini Sun 21-Apr-24 10:45:12

I'd love to meet up. Mondays aren't great, but at a pinch I could probably manage that. Crowthorne/ Wokingham - perfect for me but have car, will travel! And I'll try to be on time and on the right day.

Greenfinch Sun 21-Apr-24 09:50:31

Nice to hear from you Deedaa. Mondays are difficult for me too. We can’t compete with the Glesca Grannies for numbers but hopefully half a dozen of us can get together for chat and a cuppa.

Deedaa Sat 20-Apr-24 22:56:31

Good thinking Greenfinch At the moment Mondays would be difficult for me but apart from that June seems fairly quiet at the moment.

Greenfinch Fri 19-Apr-24 12:55:58

I think it is about time we began thinking about another meet up. It is always difficult finding a date to suit everyone so I thought if we started now for a date and venue in early June that might be helpful. Any suggestions? We usually meet in Wokingham/Crowthorne but we could consider elsewhere if there is a need. Let me know your thoughts.
