AllI can say then is they must have a lot of leaks!
Now waiting for hosepipe bans in the summer. Surely they wouldn't dare.
Oh yes, they would.
Some reservoirs are still slightly below normal capacity for this time of year! Apparently.
I am sure the South West and. Wales have had the most rain but it has been pretty miserable in the rest of the country on that front, too. I read a letter in the newspaper from a man in Kent saying that they had sixteen wet days in January there. It must have been the driest place in the country. I am in the East Midlands and I think we had thirty-one wet days in January and are now on our seventh rainy day in February. Now waiting for hosepipe bans in the summer. Surely they wouldn't dare.
I think the problem in Devon is the landslides, and if they happen on the small lanes you're just stuck for alternative routes to reach you destination. Our main A road is closed after 8pm every night at the moment for repairs. So yesterday evening after a concert in Exeter, because the coast road and the alternative lane were closed I had to drive up the M5 and come across and down. A 60 minute journey which should have been 30 minutes. I'm fed up too.
They said on the news that Devon has not had one day this year without rain, so many things cancelled. And guess what we're in for all weekend and next week?!
I think we had a nice day on Tuesday (possibly).
Or it could have been just the morning.
Sometimes the nights are dry and moonlit!
BBC weather on six o'clock news said the south west and Wales have had the most rain. To be honest it's nothing to brag about, I think everyone I know round here is feeling depressed and desperate for a dry day.
It’s not just the West Country of course, I think most of the UK has been rained on for the past month.Fields are lakes wherever you look. It’s dismal.

It was on the main news the other day.
Is there still an outdoor residential centre for schools there? I hope it didn't get damaged.
I haven't been down but the residential centre is further back so I imagine it is ok.

Shame about the road at Slapton/Torcross. Doesn't seem that long ago that it was reinstated after another storm. I wonder how long they can keep it going, I fear once the roads gone the Ley will also disappear as the sea takes it.
There isn't much that is more depressing than the British seaside in a rainy January. I can't even drive/bus into my town centre without a massive diversion as the main road is flooded and has been closed for four days. I haven't ventured that far but in our local little co op I heard it was causing massive traffic jams and school buses don't seem to be running. Happy days in Devon?
It does seem there's noticeably more rain going on right now than I'm used to.
We've been warned for years.
But still Governments and Planners allow more and more building and on flood plains too.
Hang in there folks, we're in for more heavy rain today. Take care!
It does seem there's noticeably more rain going on right now than I'm used to. Just rang a friend back in Exeter when I spotted the River Exe is overflowing onto the path nearby courtesy of one of the Exeter Facebook groups photos (as she lives not very far from that). She says she's fine thankfully. But I don't recall noticing it that bad before.
Here in Wales - where we get "rain/rain/yet more blinkin' rain" anyway I've noticed there's been more in the last 24 hours than I can recollect since I moved here. I know where rain puddles congregate on the side of the road leading up to my house - and they'd come over a good bit further than I recall ever happening before. Then got round over onto the main road into town and there was a large patch there of substantial amount of water (when I'd never noticed any there before that I can recall).
So it's certainly countrywide. Am only too glad personally I finally (several times of trying later) recently managed to get a workman to do that simple little task of clearing a load of leaves, etc, out of one of the downpipes on my house in the garden (where I'd previously had the waterbutt coming off it overflowing everywhere). I was feeling a bit in despair at the succession of workmen I'd got in for other things over recent months who just put a dumb look on their faces when I asked if they could deal with that too - and I felt sure they could...but were making out they couldnt.
Trains are terrible. Journey that should take 2hr 10 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes depending on connections is four hours so far and not there yet. The worse thing was the uncertainty GWR cross country and national rail all showing different things. Customer service lady hadn't got a clue. In the end I decided how I might do it but no certainty what was happening after Taunton. So far I've been on two trains and one coach, slow going as they are stopping everywhere as no fast trains. Bit of luck at Exeter as we were expecting an hour long wait but the previous train was half an hour late and just getting ready to leave as I ran down the platform. I'd been very laid back getting off the coach thinking there was no rush. I'd have been gutted if I'd missed it.

Just for those in East Devon and nearby. There may well be other areas.
I would think anyone else out of the county reading this thread has given up reading our atrocious weather!
Just another wet and windy day in paradise@
Just watching a couple who want to Escape to the Country - in sunny Devon!

It's getting worse again here. Schools are closed today due to flooding and trees down. The river is on danger to life, so no dog walking for me. We live in a valley and the roads are impassable to get out.
Take care🤔
Especially on country lanes where you can’t see storm drains because the ditches are full of floodwaters. So very dangerous.
