Another one for the science forum that we haven't got hmm: someone at Toronto University is saying we could re-use spent nuclear fuel, get a lot more power out of it, and at the same time reduce its half-life significantly. Looks interesting!

What an interesting article? I wonder in who's interest it is not to use it.

Seems there's a lot of movement in identifying better sources of energy, and the sooner we get away from oil the better. Yesterday, I listened to an interesting discussion which is reported on BBC News website.

Liquid air 'offers energy storage hope'
Using "wrong-time" electricity from renewables to turn air into liquid may offer a solution to one of the great challenges in engineering - how to store energy until it is needed.

Apparently, air stored as liquid ice can be kept until needed, then converted for electricity to be fed ino the National Grid.

The best thing to do with 'spare energy' (particularly the unreliable power from wind turbines) is to use it to produce hydrogen which can be stored and then be used as a fuel and we could produce cars that really are emission free.
