Try this to see where you are politically, not just left or right, but authoritarian / libertarian. It's fascinating

Bang in the middle of libertarian left.

I would have liked a chance to answer "None of the above" to some of the questions.

Frankel We can only vote into office those who offer themselves for election. That does bias the field considerably.

I also appear to be just slightly to the left of the Dalai Lama. -7.8.3.3

To make any sensible assumptions about gransnetters as a group this survery would need to done totally randomly and not by self selection of the participants.
It was a bit of fun though!

Bags I believe that I was (minus)-2.5. Haven't a clue what that means...so, if you can't enlighten me, I shall have to admit to being gormless. blush

If you scroll down it shows where you are in chart form and also shows where various of the great and good and evil and infamous are so you can see if you are left or right of Cameron or Gandhi, for example.

The was a programme on BBC2 last night suggesting US sitcoms reflect the views of the people of America far better than the US political parties. It seems that neither of our major parties reflect our views - so maybe it's the same here.

Yet another good programme that I fell asleep whilst watching [I've got a bit of a bug at the moment and just want to sleep]. I was surprised that none of these American sitcoms had made it onto British television; used to watch American sitcoms all the time. The one about the gay dads looked particularly good...mind you, the best ones were the ones that hadn't made it onto the telly..the abortion episode of Family Guy for example.

More of a leftie libertarian than the Dalai Lama or Nelson Mandela! Who'd a thunk it?

AlieOxon Sun 28-Oct-12 19:41:28

I'm further out than Gandhi! Way out, man....woman

I'm in the middle at 7 o'clock. But, have to be honest here and say that my finger hovered over a couple of answers and I gave the one I felt I should give because I was ashamed of what my initial response was blush.

annodomini Sun 28-Oct-12 20:28:09

I did think that some of my answers were a bit authoritarian, but there I am - fairly and squarely in the libertarian camp!

Greatnan Sun 28-Oct-12 22:46:58

I think that there are several members who would not fall into the left/libertarian quadrant, judging by their previous posts!

soop Mon 29-Oct-12 11:54:11

Come to think of it, I wasn't too far removed from the Dalai Lama...I'll settle for that. smile

kittylester Mon 29-Oct-12 12:15:26

I didn't think I would, Greatnan, but there I was. grin

FlicketyB Thu 06-Dec-12 14:49:29

Another left libertarian. Does that tie on with my 50 year membership of the Liberal party?

I did find one or two questions where I had to opt one way or the other when actually I didnt really have a view at all. I would have preferred a 1 - 10 scoring system for each question.
