Lord Beveridge must be turning in his grave I just want to cry.

31 years ago, I joined a new party, the SDP, that had the stated aim of 'a more fair, open and just society'. So am I disillusioned and disappointed, even distraught? You bet your life I am.

Tell me anno it's not 31 years surely??
It can't be, can it?

Hmm

Or a few tribal voters who would vote for a monkey in a yellow, red or green rosette also.

The one thing none of us will ever know is what Beveridge would make of the system and how it has evolved. He was obviously a kind, intelligent thinking gentleman but even he would have to admit the whole benefit system has changed drastically from the core basis he had envisaged which was put into place to stop the 'workhouse syndrome'.

Wouldn't it be fascinating to hear him relate his thoughts now!.

Oh yes, it was, Nanad. The Limehouse Declaration was followed by the formation of the party with such high hopes.

barrow, I could disagree with you more.

Tell me before I answer your question, have you ever been on any kind of means tested welfare benefit ?
