My sil's mother's surname was Hiscock and she married someone called Grucock (or Grewcock, not sure which)

Diana Dors real name was Fluck! There is a wonderful story about her opening the village fete in the place where she grew up. The vicar did the introduction, saying what a pleaseure it was to welcome her back, etc, then said something along the lines of "Although today she is Diana Dors, many of us still think of her as Diana Clunt"

I've just tracked it down , it was in a book of "Mondegreens" , but says it is taken from Diana Dors autobiography!?

That was Shani Wallace, number. Georgia Brown was a great jazz singer with the most amazing voice. I used to listen to her on Saturday Club wih Brian Matthew, and once I saw her singing with Long John Baldry at the Manchester Sports Guild club. Fabulous woman

Ana I saw LJB a few times, with Brian Auger Trinity, Julie Driscoll, and a very spotty, gawky Rod Stewart, when they were at the Twisted Wheel in Manchester in the late 60s. LJB was very tall and, with his bowler hat that he would keep on when singing, must have been nearly 7 feet high. All the mod boys would copy him, wearing pin-stripe suits, and carrying a brolly and bowler. Lovely times!

I'm pretty sure that Georgia Brown was one of the first Nancy's in the stage production of "Oliver" , although of course she didn't do the film.

(I have a bit of a thing about the film, whenever it was on at Christmas, Jack and I would snuggle up on the sofa and watch it together)
