I have only jsut read this thread and would like to comment that this is pretty low on the scale of nastiness I have seen on GN. Let's hope its over now and we can carry on in the lovely way we seem to have been recently.

On the subject of her Maj and Princess Di, if she didn't like her (we don't really know), is it so surprising? If my son fell out with his wife I think I would be naturally more inclined to see his point of view rather than hers. It is so easy to be objective when you are not emotionally involved. Perhaps she just felt protec tive to Prince Charles? Please don't assume anything from this about my opinion of any of the Royal family, I am simply making an observation. [fsmile}

I think they'll both enjoy Xmas at Kate's home. I would rather go there if I had to choose. But I read over and over again that old stuff about the Queen's behaviour after Diana's( who should have been wearing a seatbelt) death. But they were Divorced. Its my observation that most MIls don't weep much when the divorced DIL dies, most don't bother much about the funeral etc. Most don't even go to the funeral of their divorced DIL.
With all her faults and she really is a spoilt old lady compared to what most old ladies have to put up with, the queen behaved alright.

The real test will be after the baby is born. Will they do what many families do and spend one Christmas with one set of Grandparents and the next Christmas with the others or will her parents have to accept never seeing their GC opening their stockings and presents?

OR , will the Middletons get themselves invited to the royal "do"s .

I thought the title of this thread was about Kate going to her Parents for Christmas, I can't believe how much it deteriorates into unkind comments to one another when opinions are not appreciated!
I enjoy seeing HM and her family during their stay at Sandringham, we walk our dogs and have seen them on Sundays going to church, some walk some drive. They always smile, talk and it must be an effort sometimes! Kate probably would have found the attention too much in her early pregnant state.
