Not quite so proud to be British now? The Met continues to have losr the plot - what definition of 'terrorism' includes this episode?

The adverts are not coincidental - It is done by Google ads, which tailors ads to individual interests.

If you google "Google ads settings" you get to a page where you can control what kind of ads you get.

And you still have to pay the 10 quid entrance fee!

j08 Fri 23-Aug-13 22:26:13

And don't forget to book your butler.

I read somewhere that Paul McCartney used to book the cottage at Cliveden as a hideaway for him and Heather Mills because his family hated her so much.

j08 Fri 23-Aug-13 22:36:01

Yes. He could have afforded. hmm

One of the Telegraph articles said, in effect, that Snowden was right to expose "the cancer at the heart of US government" but that his action that followed - seeking refuge in Russia - was unprincipled. Having seen the way that Bradley Manning was treated (being stripped and kept in solitary confinement before his trial and then getting a 35-year sentence), Snowden would have been pretty silly to hang around and wait for the US authorities to pick him up.

I feel very sorry for Bradley Manning. Poor mixed up kid.

Nonu Fri 23-Aug-13 22:47:14

McCartneys family were right about her. Although I did read in todays paper that she took a silver medal in the slalom standing LW4 race for people with disabilities in N.Z

gracesmum Fri 23-Aug-13 23:21:56

What is the "slalom standing LW4" race?

Iam64 Sat 24-Aug-13 08:01:11

I hope Snowdon avoids being tried in the USA. The treatment of Chelsea Bradley Manning and his sentence seem extraordinary to me.

Nonu Sat 24-Aug-13 09:19:29

Looking at the pictures of the "Cottage" at Cliveden , smiled to myself when I saw the chair in the bedroom , nice little touch of irony !!

gracesmum Sat 24-Aug-13 12:26:43

Nonu = my post of yesterday 23.21, asking you for an explanation, please?

gracesmum Sat 24-Aug-13 12:30:03

PS Aha! So you do remember the Profumo scandal/Christine Keeler affair then? wink

Nonu Sat 24-Aug-13 12:56:32

Gracemum what can I tell you ? The only I can suggest is, you google!
She did take a silver medal for Britain - so well done her !

Re Profumo et al , I must have had a mental block , how could that have happened I wonder ? It is all coming back now as if a veil has been lifted .

grin

j08 Sat 24-Aug-13 13:48:31

Wow*iam*! That's very pc of you.

Greatnan Sat 24-Aug-13 14:30:10

Why is it pc, jingle? I am sure many of us think the US uses very harsh, inhumane punishments to keep the people in line.

j08 Sat 24-Aug-13 14:34:39

Using his new name

Ana Sat 24-Aug-13 14:39:29

Yes, but rather spoilt by the 'his' sentence!

Greatnan Sat 24-Aug-13 14:42:17

Spoilt? How? The post is perfectly clear to me.

Riverwalk Sat 24-Aug-13 14:42:51

I had the misfortune to catch Sky News the other morning - Eamon wotsit and two others were reviewing the newspapers and tittering at the photo of Bradley Manning dressed as a female in a blonde wig.

It seemed so heartless - the boy is young, immature and had just been sentenced to 35 years.

Greatnan Sat 24-Aug-13 14:43:14

Oh, I see - I am sure she won't be worried by something said on an English forum!

Greatnan Sat 24-Aug-13 14:45:35

Anything to do with gender reassignment brings out the puerile in many presenters.

gracesmum Sat 24-Aug-13 14:47:36

Thanks nonu for the suggestion of googling it. "What can I tell you?" (quote).I suppose I had (naively) supposed you might have just been able to enlighten me as to which sport and which sporting event? Darts? Cross country skiing? Clearly not high jump if a slalom is involved.confused

gracesmum Sat 24-Aug-13 18:57:26

Just seems rude to igonore a polite request and then just say "Google it" when asked for a simple explanation of an abbreviation/acronym.
#only asking

j08 Sat 24-Aug-13 19:13:59

Horrible to be tittering at him. hmm
