What a puzzle

So hope he is found safe and well soon.

Just heard the news Pogs. In one day from Humanity at its best as 100s, 1000s of people dropped what they were doing and rushed to try to find him to Humanity at its worst. Poor little lad.

When I collected DGD2 from nursery today I noticed that the mums, dads and grandparents were somewhat subdued and their wee ones all seemed to get an extra cuddle and their hand held very tightly as they left the nursery.

Granny

The police officer looked as though he may have shed a tear.

It is being reported that his mother is the one arrested. sad. sad. sad. 'IF'. She is responsible.

POGS Sat 18-Jan-14 01:57:10

I should have said detained, not arrested.

The offerer looked like he was going to break down. I said to Hubby yesterday, there's more to this than meets the eye. I said either mother to blame, or father abducted.

kittylester Sat 18-Jan-14 08:02:58

Apparently, police are now investigating a house in Kirkcaldy where a relative of the mother lives.

It's heartbreaking- I said on another thread that the little boy reminds me of DGS2 and I can hardly bear to watch. Bertie is 2 today and will have a wonderful day - the contrast is too awful.sad

It's sad poor little chap.

Nelliemoser Sat 18-Jan-14 08:21:58

It's bad news I am afraid they have found a body in a cottage the other side of the Forth and are questioning the mother.

I have to say I am not at all surprised. This just confirms the statistical likelihood in these situations.
More children are killed by their parents, relatives or cohabitees than are ever abducted by strangers.

LizG Sat 18-Jan-14 08:28:49

Expected but still very sad.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 18-Jan-14 08:34:03

So sad. Poor little boy.

kittylester Yes. I think being grannies makes us perhaps even more vulnerable to the sadness felt when these awful things happen to children.

Aka Sat 18-Jan-14 08:42:43

sad Having a grandson of the same age, knowing how trusting yet vulnerable he is, this is so sad.

Agus Sat 18-Jan-14 09:48:12

I just can't comprehend how anyone could harm a child never mind kill them. sad

Marelli Sat 18-Jan-14 10:13:31

The wee boy has been apparently been found at a relative's house in a quite affluent area of the town. It is about 4 miles away from where I live.
Hard to comprehend...sad

gillybob Sat 18-Jan-14 10:22:07

This was very sad news to wake up to this morning. Although have to admit to being not very surprised. It never did really look like the little boy had walked out of his own house during the night did it? sad

sunseeker Sat 18-Jan-14 10:24:09

So sad. How anyone can harm a child is beyond my comprehension. I once heard someone say that protecting our young is in our DNA, some people obviously have something missing from theirs.

Marelli Sat 18-Jan-14 10:30:43

The day that the little boy was reported missing, I was spending time with my wee great-grandson who is also 3. So trusting, so loving and so vulnerable.
However, we don't yet know the full story, only that the little missing boy been found dead and that his mother has been detained. We can only surmise.

Riverwalk Sat 18-Jan-14 10:41:33

Very sad all round - from what I've read the young mother was living alone with five children.

merlotgran Sat 18-Jan-14 11:28:19

The boy's mother and aunt (her sister) have both been detained.

What a horrible situation.

soop Sat 18-Jan-14 12:02:37

Any young mother living alone and coping with five children would no doubt be under enormous stress. In my opinion the wee boy appeared to be under nourished. I wonder whether the social services had interacted with the family. Whatever...his short life is over...someone has to live with the knowledge that he/she was responsible. There is no rewind button.

henetha Sat 18-Jan-14 12:24:42

What awful awful news. Poor little kid. I hope they find out who is responsible.

Tegan Sat 18-Jan-14 12:59:43

When so many people that would make wonderful parents have problems having children I find it very difficult to come to terms with people that have lots of them and then don't look after them properly sad. I live quite close to the house where all those children died in the house fire the other year.

Flowerofthewest Sat 18-Jan-14 17:48:26

So sad for the little one.
