Well you are all being very restrained - I have searched for a thread on this topic and can't seem to find one! So slimeball Clifford is getting his comeuppance at last. What a totally unpleasant, arrogant and nauseating character he always has been is. And how wonderfully ironic to be savaged by the gutter press red tops which in the past have promulgated his lies and distortions with such dedication. So they believed he was telling the truth then did they? Leopards and spots spring to mind.

Having just read through the judge's findings, I now feel more than slightly nauseated.

penstemonn I agree. The blame lies with Cklifford. But at 14 she was old enough to use some commonsense. And I still think her parents have a lot to answer for.

[Notso] I have just read your link . What a dreadful man. OK the crimes were committed a long time ago but he deserves the sentence that he has got and much more. I think that if the judge had been able he would have given him a much longer sentence.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 19:22:45

I don't think those girls were blameless. Not by a long chalk.

Quote: "When Clifford met a 15-year-old on holiday with her family in Spain, her parents encouraged her to pursue contact with him after being impressed by his name-dropping.

She said she was "blown away" when he told her she "could be the UK version" of Jodie Foster, and felt unable to say no when he asked her to take off her top and bra."

Really? Are we sure she just didn't want to see the pound signs fading away? And what kind of parents.... hmm

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 19:23:59

I think the original post on this thread says a lot about how the media have also felt.

Notso Fri 02-May-14 19:24:23

Gosh jings, what a really neat solution! All we need is for 14 year olds to use some common sense and what? Adult criminal behaviour reduced?

Lona Fri 02-May-14 19:26:30

Thank you for the link notso, I too feel revulsion for this horrible person.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 19:28:56

I think these kind of things might not happen quite so often if teenagers put a bit of thought into looking after themselves - yes.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 19:30:12

I have already said what I think of Max Clifford in this respect. I think it's ok to broaden the discussion a bit, don't you?

Ana Fri 02-May-14 19:32:57

He was charged with (and convicted of) offences against women aged from 15 to 19 - where does the 14 year old come into it? [confusion]

Ana Fri 02-May-14 19:33:11

confused

Notso Fri 02-May-14 19:34:38

19:28:56.......I can't think of a civilised response.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 19:36:45

I definitely read about a fourteen year old. Probably mis-reported.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 19:38:03

Oh, go ahead with an uncivillised one then. hmm

Seems perfectly sensible to me. Celebrity chasing is a dangerous game.

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 19:40:16

sounds like they didn't get him for that one

JessM Fri 02-May-14 19:44:13

I don't think you're repeated attempts to shock other members really counts as initiating "discussion" jinglebell

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 20:11:21

Repeated attempts?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 20:14:42

I don't think I did try to shock anyone.

'ang on! this is the wrong thread! confused I don't think I've said much on this one.

annodomini Fri 02-May-14 20:42:32

Remarkable how jingle is more perceptive than a Crown Court judge. Isn't it?

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 02-May-14 20:49:39

And which bit does that relate to? confused

Mind you, if he had got a different judge on the day, he might have got a different sentence.

I watch Silk!

Nonu Fri 02-May-14 21:08:23

That is true , I think I read Rumpole !!

MiceElf Fri 02-May-14 21:10:26

Just google the Crown Court Sentencing Guidelines and you will see that they have been applied fairly in this case.

Nonu Fri 02-May-14 21:33:26

Re- phrase that

That is true I read Rumpole !

thatbags Fri 02-May-14 21:38:23

Who the hell is Max Clifford? Never heard of him and wouldn't have known him from Adam. Clearly there are advantages to not reading "red tops" nor watching Slebs on telly. Glad he's being punished for his misdemeanours, whoever he is.

Ana Fri 02-May-14 21:47:14

You could always Google, thatbags, even though you don't watch tv.
(or whatever search engine you have)
