Britain needs council housing, jobs, a good minimum wage, and a decent old age pension.

The Tory's wont deliver because they dont care about ordinary people.

Ana

Yes I do remember Ivanhoe hence I suggested a [hits frying pan over head] emoticon. grin

Rose quartz

Yes the MP for Totnes is Dr. Sarah Wollaston and I can't wait to watch on election night to see Ivanhoe on stage when the results are announced. I won't forget to look.

I agree Gordon Brown must have stolen his pension.

I am really annoyed that he has been 'outed' and I hope Ivanhoe if you post again you show respect to GN posters who feel duped by your actions. angry. Try to debate with us and not just espouse your party political broadcast to an unsuspecting audience.

Perhaps he wants to go back to the days of old labour when Stafford Cripps was chancellor of the exchequer and kept rationing in place to maintain austerity for the good of the country?
Wasn't he labour?

rosequartz Mon 19-May-14 21:46:14

Ana, perhaps Gordon Brown 'stole' his pension and he needs another job now?

Totnes has a Conservative MP I believe, but one who had done a 'real job' (GP) and is not afraid to speak her mind and not just toe the party line. Whether you agree with her politics or not she seems like the sort of politician we need more of - of all political persuasions.

I remember very well. How could I forget the same old clap trap. Has he ever read our strictures on the dreaded Gove, for example? Has he (Ivanhoe) any idea of the devastation being wrought on our education system? Does he care? Is his a one-track manifesto? We've had thread after thread on health care and provision for care in old age. Hasn't he noticed? And doesn't he realise that many posts here are by people who have considerable expertise whether in education, health or social welfare? I repeat, does he care?

whenim64 Mon 19-May-14 21:36:48

There's reams and reams of his rhetoric on GN over the last year or so. If he talks to the pensioners in his - ahem - campaign constituency like he's addressed Gnetters, he'll get short shrift there, too. Mustn't laugh! grin sorry......

Ana Mon 19-May-14 21:25:50

Oh, he was on here last year spouting the same old...doesn't anyone except Ariadne and me remember?

He also says more than once that his mum died a long time ago - why has it taken him so long to use that money she left him to stand for parliament? He's 66 for goodness sake...hmm

Elegran Mon 19-May-14 21:25:35

I'd say that his comment about the amount of political ignorance on gransnet was way off the mark. I have read more political awareness from everyone else than from him.

Galen Mon 19-May-14 21:21:38

His manifesto says he promised his dead mum to stand as a parliamentary candidate!
Reckon Nigel's nom de plume could be pubbore

whenim64 Mon 19-May-14 21:18:29

OK (rolls up sleeves).....are we ready for Nigel Farrage now? grin

mcem Mon 19-May-14 21:12:48

Well it's now clear that we've disappointed Ivanhoe. Perhaps he expected to ride on to this site on his white charger and be greeted as saviour by lots of humble, submissive old ladies. He imagined we'd hang on his every word and we've had the temerity to argue. We should have fallen over our zimmer frames in the rush to embrace his wisdom but we've dared to contradict him. To quote back to him -
'Get over yourself!'
Pity that we may never know if he is or isn't a candidate for the general election but I'd look forward to his appearance on QT.

B---y hell just saw a link on another thread and now I find another.

This one sends me right back to my initial thought about you Ivanhoe.

You have nothing to bring to the table but diatribe and hatred of anybody who does not share your opinion.

You have taken the rise out of every poster who has not realised you 'were in it for yourself promotion' all along.

Take your comment on Bob Crow. You thought of him as a working mans saviour who took the moral high ground and did not buy his council house. To somebody else he was a champagne socialist who earned more than the Prime Minister and took a perfectly good council house away from a family who would have benefitted from having social housing for their family.

That is the type of selective hypocrisy that I cannot let go without saying I find this all now pure shallowness.

rosequartz Mon 19-May-14 20:58:28

moon

rosequartz Mon 19-May-14 20:58:08

grin aka

Ivanhoe was the son of a Lord ....

Aka Mon 19-May-14 20:51:23

Good point Rose but perhaps he's better at kissing babies...they don't answer back.

GadaboutGran Mon 19-May-14 20:50:49

The Ivanhoe party probably.

Elegran Mon 19-May-14 20:43:59

So just WHICH PARTY are you positive about then, Ivanhoe ? We know all about the ones that you are negative about, ie any that we might name, and how it all goes back to your pet hate Margaret Thatcher, but who do you think SHOULD be running the country?

rosequartz Mon 19-May-14 20:40:12

A great way to win votes - professing to stand up for the rights of the elderly but abusing them verbally on a forum for older people! confused

Penstemmon Mon 19-May-14 20:38:29

Ivanhoe you could not be more wrong! You have obviously not spotted any of the posts where I have made my political values clear! I just wondered what your preferred party was, that's all.

rosequartz Mon 19-May-14 20:37:16

That's me told!

whenim64 Mon 19-May-14 20:26:26

Manifesto?

la65.forumotion.co.uk/t3-my-manifesto

Ana Mon 19-May-14 20:19:16

Evading the issue/question again, Ivanhoe? You're an ideal political candidate!

Ivanhoe Mon 19-May-14 20:14:15

Penstemmon , You clearly are not aware that "traditional" Labour is the party that has always looked after the elderly regarding State pensions provision, council housing, and minimum wages.

mcem Mon 19-May-14 20:08:06

Totnes? Independent? Prospective candidate?

Penstemmon Mon 19-May-14 20:07:17

Ivanhoe which party, if any, do you think would deliver more public housing, good minimum wage and a decent OA pension?

whenim64 Mon 19-May-14 20:06:41

Your blog says you are, Ivanhoe. How did that happen? Tell us - we're listening?
