Are you the jealous type? I most certainly would not have entertained sitting at the same table in the same restaurant with that man! We cannot be sure that Saatchi and Trinny were arguing, but it looks likely.

HollyDaze Mon 02-Jun-14 13:09:34

It makes me wonder what they see in him - hardly good looking is he so, does he have hidden talents? He must choose his women carefully if he gets away with it so often that he feels comfortable carrying on like that it public.

Elegran Mon 02-Jun-14 13:16:08

It is £££££, Hollydaze They make him very attractive, as does his air of being in charge - some women love that.

merlotgran Mon 02-Jun-14 13:24:11

HollyDaze Your post is a bit like Mrs. Merton asking Debbie McGee what she saw in the millionaire, Paul Daniels. grin

HollyDaze Mon 02-Jun-14 13:26:15

Elegran - wouldn't Nigella and Trinny have their own wealth? I've no idea who he is anyway to be honest!

HollyDaze Mon 02-Jun-14 13:27:13

merlotgran - surely there comes a time when there just isn't enough money to make it worthwhile grin

Iam64 Mon 02-Jun-14 13:52:02

He seems to like beautiful women, who despite successful professional/work lives, defer to his power. Some women find power very attractive. Trinny is a 'recovering alcoholic' and has (so I've read) had some kind of eating disorder when younger. She sounds just his type grin

Iam64 Mon 02-Jun-14 13:53:15

Whoops, reading that back makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I wasn't having a go at Trinny, women with substance misuse/mental health issues. I was having a go at this man, who seems to be a narcissistic bully.

Elegran Mon 02-Jun-14 13:59:32

Hollydaze Jacqueline Kennedy had her own wealth, but that did not stop her being attracted to the life that Aristotle Onassis could provide. Some men are in a different league, and Charlers Saatchi is one of them.

He is part of a top advertising/PR firm and has vast money and influence. Trinny and Nigella are/were both vulnerable, for one reason or another, and a man who would take care of everything is just what they seem to need.

The fact that he also wants power over them as well only dawns on them later. Then they realise that there is not enough money in the world to compensate.

HollyDaze Mon 02-Jun-14 14:26:45

Elegran - it wouldn't matter a jot to me who he was, how much money he had or how much power; if he put his hand around my throat he'd only ever do it once. I don't understand how women can sell themselves so short - is perceived prestige really that important to them confused

Ana Mon 02-Jun-14 15:14:27

HollyDaze, you obviously have a healthy level of self-esteem - some women do not, for various reasons, and will put up with all manner of humiliation because they don't believe they deserve better.

petallus Mon 02-Jun-14 15:27:49

Nigella looks so like Anna from Coronation Street in that pic.

I think the relationship between Saatchi and Trinny was a rebound one but I don't wish them any ill.

petallus Mon 02-Jun-14 15:28:50

p.s. Yes I would definitely agree to sit at that table. I'd love to have a conversation with Saatchi.

HollyDaze Mon 02-Jun-14 17:34:15

Ana - that's much more polite than my husband would have described me!

I understand the low self-esteem angle but they must know that being ill-treated is unacceptable. It is something I really do struggle to understand fully why anyone would put up with it (if that makes sense).

Elegran Mon 02-Jun-14 17:47:39

I would have had nothing to do wth either Saatchi or Onassis, Hollydaze but it is a fact that to some women power is an aphrodisiac. It has always been so. Perhaps it has something to do with the animal instinct to have the strongest male available to father one's offspring, to give them the best genes for survival.

Times change, and that is no longer the only way to secure the future of our family, but it still lingers. You don't have to think the same way to see that some others have different priorities.

HollyDaze Mon 02-Jun-14 18:00:41

Elegran - I do see that others have different priorities, I just don't understand why negative traits would be seen not only as tolerable but also desirable.

To be honest, I'm not sold on the whole 'strongest male' bit either - there are many women (and always have been) that have stronger backbones than some men.

Ah well, it takes all sorts I suppose.

Nelliemoser Mon 02-Jun-14 18:48:26

What is it that attracts these women when they should know by now what nasty things they get up to?
Is it that these women do somehow think that they can change this man by loving him, when every one else can see a mile off how full of themselves this type of men are.

It surprises me in a way these apparently successful women do not recognise these men for what they are.

Elegran Mon 02-Jun-14 18:50:40

Maybe it was a good strategy when we were still almost animals and the male's input (grin) was the "wham bam, thank you ma'am, goodbye" of many animal species. Strong genes captured, with no more contact with the overbearing b*****d.

There are a lot of built-in reactions which are still in our DNA, though our conscious minds reject them.

Lona Mon 02-Jun-14 19:12:54

I agree with you Elegran as I certainly don't want more contact with the overbearing ba****d!

Or any other kind either.

Deedaa Mon 02-Jun-14 22:12:49

He just seems like an unattractive slimeball to me and all the money in the world can't hide the fact that he enjoys belittling women to boost his own ego.

HollyDaze Tue 03-Jun-14 09:04:18

Strong genes captured, with no more contact with the overbearing b*****d.

Very nicely put grin

suebailey1 Tue 03-Jun-14 09:17:08

Bad men have always been more fascinating- much preferred Alan Rickmans sheriff of Nottingham to insipid Kevin Costner's Robin Hood and with Trinny's shopping habits she needs a billionaire and will probably put up with a lot. But to Nigella - I have always wanted to strangle her.

Iam64 Tue 03-Jun-14 10:44:34

Oh dear suebailey1, you put your finger right on one of the contributors to the number of women who are abused, even murdered by Bad Men. The rape scene in the Alan Rickman/Kevin Costner's sheriff of Nottingham was unnecessary. Alan Rickman is a much more attractive man than Kevin Costner, but if he was a potential rapist like the character he played, I certainly wouldn't find him attractive.

An attraction to Bad Boys is not a Good Thing, it's dangerous for so many women. Trinny is a recovering alcoholic, who has suffered eating disorders. These psychological problems don't disappear, people learn to live with them, or relapse.

glammanana Tue 03-Jun-14 11:03:53

This man will never change he has always managed to get away with his bullying ways and he expects to because of who he is and if it wasn't Nigella or Trinny it would be someone else I fear.

MiniMouse Tue 03-Jun-14 11:20:31

He seems to pick on women who are vulnerable or going through a period of being vulnerable, though how he still manages to get away with it now that he's been 'outed' as a manipulating bully is one of life's mysteries.
