Quite rightly he's being suspended but should the BBC be cancelling episodes of Top Gear?

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

I am no fan of JC but I would just say that the Argentinia government is provocative about the Falklands so a gentle poke by that registration is not something to lose sleep over imo.
And who would not like to have their own lavatory with them when travelling in some countries? That is not politically incorrect - eccentric but also sensible. I would be carrying some immodium with me if I went.

Wrecking areas of the countryside wherever they go is another matter entirely, but all of that is beside the point.
It is the alleged assault on a colleague at issue and whether the programmes already filmed should be broadcast.

Much publicity with the unpleasantness . A case of bad publicity is better than no publicity perhaps

Jane10 Sat 21-Mar-15 11:27:08

Jeremy Clarkson does not exactly need additional publicity! He's a world superstar whether or not some people like it. He's obviously not for those of a sensitive disposition or who are hard of laughing. In which case its quite easy- don't watch his programmes or read his (very well written) articles. Simples!

durhamjen Sat 21-Mar-15 12:39:11

I cannot believe how many people think that Clarkson is more important than real politics, like the saving of £12 billion from welfare benefits.

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 12:56:15

confused

petallus Sat 21-Mar-15 13:07:25

How would you feel about JC if he had publicly humiliated you, called you a c*u*t and punched you in the face Jane10?

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Mar-15 13:10:08

Not more important jen. Just more intersting perhaps. We can't take on the whole country's troubles all of the time.

merlotgran Sat 21-Mar-15 13:11:09

I still don't see the connection confused

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Mar-15 13:11:41

That's a good point petallus. The two of them will have to work it out between themselves. Separately from the job perhaps. Clarkson has been to the producer's house to apologise, but wasn't let in.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Mar-15 13:12:32

jen has a thread about welfare cuts, but more people are posting on here. I think that what's jen means.

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 13:13:50

Do we know JC definitely punched the producer in the face?

There are an awful lot of assumptions on this thread!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Mar-15 13:13:52

I think he should offer to give a large sum of money to a charity of the producer's (sorry, can't remember name') choice.

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 21-Mar-15 13:14:30

It was reported he went to a & e with blood running down his face.

merlotgran Sat 21-Mar-15 13:14:54

Aaah.....Thanks jingl

Ana Sat 21-Mar-15 13:16:34

The Welfare Cuts thread hasn't been running as long as this one has, it was only started on March 19th (not by durhamjen).

whitewave Sat 21-Mar-15 13:21:35

I reckon that he's a goner! Sky say that they wouldn't employ him.

Anniebach Sat 21-Mar-15 13:30:32

Jane10, if disliking an arrogant , ill mannered, adulterous bully means one has a sensitive disposition I happily accept

durhamjen Sat 21-Mar-15 13:32:55

Same here, Anniebach.

Anniebach Sat 21-Mar-15 13:32:58

If he was to give a large sum of money as a form of compensation for hitting someone this means if your wealthy do as you wish, if not get prosecuted

durhamjen Sat 21-Mar-15 13:37:11

This thread had 4 pages on the first day.
The welfare cuts thread is still on the first page.
Says a lot....

whitewave Sat 21-Mar-15 13:37:53

Don't feel too sorry for him I am sure all his Chipping Norton friends are rallying around

Mishap Sat 21-Mar-15 13:40:18

Indeed Annie - if (and we do not yet know for sure) he has committed a criminal offence, no amount of donations should protect him from prosecution.

He sounds like a man feeding on his own image and fame and getting totally out of hand. It is not surprising that the BEEB feels they need to rein him in a bit.

Anniebach Sat 21-Mar-15 13:44:50

durhamjen, this so reminds me of something which happened in our town, end of school term, boys from the local comp did some damage to traffic cones, boys from a public school damaged a bus shelter . Outcome was the comp Boys were branded hooligans, the public school lot had overdone celebrating end of term with high jinx

Clarkson thumps a man , doesn't matter he is soooo amusing. If he had worked in a supermarket and thumped a fellow worker then sacked and possibly prosecuted for ABH

Anniebach Sat 21-Mar-15 13:48:41

Well Mishap, he has had the PM support him publicly , this can only encourage him to continue with his loutish behaviour

Mishap Sat 21-Mar-15 13:53:57

Yes - the PM is completely out of order there. He really should not interfere in an issue which could come to court. I am amazed he was so unwise as to weigh in. Unbelievable.
