Quite rightly he's being suspended but should the BBC be cancelling episodes of Top Gear?

If a man working in a factory punches a colleague he would probably be sacked but I doubt they'd remove the product he was making from the shelves.

Ana Wed 11-Mar-15 22:28:14

Both members of the Chipping Norton set (along with many others!)

gillybob Wed 11-Mar-15 22:28:57

The man is vile. Just like his BBC "friend" Jonathan Woss. I notice he has been welcomed back into the fold. Horrible people.

Anne58 Wed 11-Mar-15 22:29:23

The links provided didn't seem to work if you just wanted to sign them, but it may of course be me! grin

merlot where is Cameron showing support for the inflated ego arsehole Jeremy Clarkson comment? Please tell then I can (hopefully) add a comment!

Ana Wed 11-Mar-15 22:33:30

Only 176 supporters so far durhamjen - it's a pity a counter-petition wasn't started as soon as the 'reinstate JC' one was launched.

merlotgran Wed 11-Mar-15 22:33:59

It was an item on the BBC 10 o'clock news, phoenix.

He said he hoped it would soon be sorted out because his kids love Top Gear. hmm

durhamjen Wed 11-Mar-15 22:34:03

On the news, phoenix.

The link to change.org should work now I've said I'm not me.
Or it just did for me, so maybe it is just you.

durhamjen Wed 11-Mar-15 22:37:28

I agree, Ana. Can anyone share it on facebook, to get more signatures?

Ana Wed 11-Mar-15 22:39:03

Somehow I don't think it's going to make nearly half a million any time soon. Which is sad.

Anne58 Wed 11-Mar-15 22:39:08

There seems to be a lot of anti comments on change.org (where I think the campaign to keep the obnoxious man started) but I am a loss as to how to start a petition to keep the egotistical, self satisfied, opinionated oik away and out of an obscenely high pay job where he seems to be rewarded for being all those things that I said about him!

(I could say a lot more, and in more colourful language, but I would probably be banned!)

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 11-Mar-15 22:42:51

Oh leave off you lot! grin It's just a telly programme. It gives pleasure to millions. It harms no one. Jeremy Clarkson is a 'personality'. He's good on the programme. You don't have to mix with him in real life!

Anya Wed 11-Mar-15 22:43:49

The old boy network at work angry

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 11-Mar-15 22:46:26

Yep! The Oxfordshire set. hmm The PM's got a point though.

Our licence fee would probably go up without Top Gear bringing in the dosh.

durhamjen Wed 11-Mar-15 23:10:41

I do not understand, phoenix. Why isn't a petition asking for him to be sacked not what you want?

Anyway, anyone can start a petition on change.org using any wording they want.

durhamjen Wed 11-Mar-15 23:12:13

Right next to where it says change.org on the top line is a button to click to start a petition.

annodomini Wed 11-Mar-15 23:26:10

This is the link to the 38 Degrees petition

durhamjen Wed 11-Mar-15 23:36:26

Just looked on there, anno, and could not find one. Thanks. A lot more signatures than on change.org, too.

rosequartz Wed 11-Mar-15 23:36:53

He likes speed so I am going to nominate him to be the first person to go on a one-way mission to Mars.
Folowed by Russell Brand (no. 2) and Jonathan Woss (no. 3)

Or would that be too long to wait?

We could send him off for training in a sound-proof container in the meantime.

Why is DC entering into this media circus - again?

Nelliemoser Wed 11-Mar-15 23:41:59

Here is another nasty Clarkson remark! Did any of you hear him on "Who do you think you are?" a few years ago when speaking about his mum he made comments to the effect of.

My mum's not doing too badly for her age. I will only start worrying about her her when she starts smelling of wee.

Nasty bigoted Git.

absent Wed 11-Mar-15 23:51:45

That he is rude, misogynist and arrogant are not, of course, justifiable reasons for sacking Jeremy Clarkson. That he apparently punched an associate director because there was no food available after filming surely is.

absent Wed 11-Mar-15 23:52:15

associate producer – whoops.

Marmight Thu 12-Mar-15 00:02:15

RoseQ. I'm all for that and would be there to wave them off! grin

Eloethan Thu 12-Mar-15 00:07:54

Or, referring to striking workers, Mr Clarkson said: "I'd have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families."

absent Thu 12-Mar-15 01:46:17

Eloethan Apparently, that was joke. I am glad that I have no sense of humour.

Anne58 Thu 12-Mar-15 07:39:55

durham I DO want a petition to get rid of him, perhaps I got my words jumbly! Anyway, I have now signed grin

Iam64 Thu 12-Mar-15 08:43:34

I was shocked to see D Cameron supporting JC, remarking on how talented JC is, the fact he's a "constituent and a friend" and go on to say how much his children like JC how upset they'd be if he didn't return the Top Gear.

It's not because I' m not a tory - it's because it seems wrong for a prime minister so smile when talking about someone who has been accused of hitting a work colleague, whatever the circumstances. DC went on to say he hoped the matter could be resolved. DC has form of course, he was fully supportive of his friend Rebekkah Brookes wasn't he.
