It was NOT lighthearted. The poster was professing concern for the person being addressed, quite falsely.

I don't want to argue about such an emotional subject other than saying I have heard for myself what I posted.

I posted yesterday after seeing posts that mentioned David Cameron and all I did was try to balance the comments made by mentioning Gordon Brown and Ed Miliband ' in context'.

For clarity I posted this:-

"Can I just say with regards to Cameron and his family I agree it can be a annoying but Ed Miliband also used the birth of his children during the debate last night and Gordon Brown often spoke of his loss of his child too. I don't think any of them 'use' their children for self promotion nor playing the sympathy card as some eluded to. I just think they are trying to say, look I do have first hand knowledge of what the NHS means to the voter."

I did not nor do not use my words to imply crass behaviour or subject a grieving person to the bile some people do and if my words are taken that way I whole heartedly apologise, not least because it appears to give carte blanche for an open season by those who do find it fair game to attack an individual in such a manner.

Soutra,just remembered where I'd "heard when will they ever learn" it's from where have all the flowers gone, by Chris De Burgh.

They show off children to make us feel we're all the same, families with expenses, schooling problems ect.

So in a way they do " use" them.

I suppose you make a valid point and I agree there are plenty of photos doing the round to prove your point.

I just don't think they use harrowing personal stories to score political points as some do.

Whether they do or don't use their children - it doesn't seem to be in very good taste somehow.

I'm proud of my boys, like many people they went to university & have good careers although not in the cutthroat business of politics. They are close & would stand together as a family, as been proven in the past.

I feel EM got the unions on his side by a lie, he said if they went on strike he would be with them, if he was, he must have been at least five miles behind because no one could see him.

Perhaps politics would be better if more ordinary upstanding people like our sons & daughters were representing us.

So why do you not suggest it to your boys, Igranma?

We all choose our own paths, it's not for me to decide the way they go.

I don't only have boys, proud of them all!
